At the next meeting of the board of
education the resolution by E. C. Kont*,
repealing the rule which places In Su
perintendent Slaton'* hands the power
to nominate all teacher* for Atlanta
school*, will come up for dl*cu*slon,
having been tabled until that rneetlq
It I* expected that a warm debatr w
be precipitated. Several member* of
the hoard have expressed the opinion
that the present rule place*, too great
authority In one man's hand* and give*
him too great power over the teachers
In the service of the public. Other* be.
Ileve that the superintendent should
have practically a free hand In con
ducting the school*. Judge Kont* say*
hi* resolution I* by no mean* an at
tack on the Slaton administration, but
merely a move for better adjustment of
the system.
Slaton la Silent.
When seen by a reporter from T
Georgian Friday,' Superintendent SI
ton courteously declined to make
■tatement relative to the merlta of the
resolution, now a law of the board of
education, which give* the superintend,
ent the power to nominate tne princi
pal*, teacher* and nupernumerarlea In
the city school*. He also declined to
•ay whether or not he considered the
resolution which Judge E. C. Koil.x
Introduced Wednesday at the meeting
of the board, to repeal the law, a wlae
move.
He did aay, however, that he did not
request the board to enact the law and
never ralaed hi* voice against It. and
now as a resolution had been Introduced
to repeal It, he waa not asking the
board to repeal It op to keep It In
power.
"I consider the superintendent's po
sition one to serve the people,” he eald,
"nnd whateyer steps the board may
take In regard to the Kont* resolution
will be perfectly satisfactory to me. *
am not fighting the resolution and
am not saying that the law should re
main aa It la; I consider, that a matter
for the board to decide, and without
any voice from me. Of.course, I have
my Ideas on the merlta of It, but until
the board request* me to make them a
statement In regard to It, I'll have to
decline to discuss It.”

For 26 years Jacobs' Phftrmacy has led the drug business of Georgia.
For 26 years the. public has known that full dependence can be placed
on Jacobs' drugs and prices.
When all other druggists were combined to smiish this store we
continued T)ur policy of keeping faith with the public and conducting
our business free nnd Independent of oil combinations nnd alliances.
Why? Because we believe In fair play and a square deal; every
business to stand or fall according to Its policy. Because we knew our
policy of cut prices was right and tvould triumph finally. Because we
believe In the principle of small profits nnd largo sales as against large
profits and small ‘sales—It means more business for us and greater sav
ings to our customers.
