opened steady today and prtcee ranged
upward. May waa up 1 point, October 2
and July up 4 points. Futures were

New York, April 29.—A general bullish
tendency and advances throughout the
list, led by Canadian Pacific, Reading,
and General Electric featured the open
ing of the short session of the stock mar
ket today. Wall Street had a report that
the supreme court decisions in the anti
trust cases would not bo handed down
before .May 15, which gave rise to pre
dictions that the Intervening period would
sco a gain of substantial strength by the
stock market.
The strength shown at the opening to
day was the most marked In many weeks.
Railroads and the industrials were firm,

This, assisted by the reciprocity
again helped that Insue.
Union Pacific continued to advance
after opening above last night’s close, and
soon snowed a gain of 1 full point.
The copper stocks were irregular.
