From
the
INCUBATORS A NECESSITY.
Here's a little
story Indicating /[
that there Is easy /lflu/tt •
money In poultry,
If anyone has thfo
knack. A farmer
across the river
was driving home
one afternoon late
last summer when
he saw a mother
hen along the r\ 1
roadside with nine l ullItt'V
little chicks frol-
licking about her. — v
Seeing the owner / Inrtnr
near by be In-
qulred what he
would take for them. "A cOtlple of
dollars," was the reply. The trade
was at ones elsstd and the farmer
plodded along homeward. One day last
week he brought the identical nine,
made up of eight hens and a rooster,
to this city and sold them for 11.75—
75 cents apiece. The hens had been
laying all winter, and they left with
the farmer some 50 chickens of this
season's hatch ak well as the mother
hen!
To the Poultry boctor:
I am a little boy nine years old. I am
trying to raise some chicks, but I
feel very much discouraged this morn
ing. 1 am going to asa advice. I know
you will tell me what to do. I had a
hen which got sick last Saturday. She
was apparently alt right until then.
She seems to be weak, especially In
her legs. Her . neck was crooked so
much that hen head turned completely
over.' She seemed to have convulsions.
This morning 1 have another affected
the same way. Pleas* tell me the
trouble and what Is the cure. I am
very anxious.. 1 am a regular little
goose about my chickens. Thsnklng
you, a. B. SAWYER.
