Yesterday afternoon the visiting den
tists enjoyed a swim and barbecue at
the Outing club. They went out at 4
o'clock and returned at 8 o'clock, just
In time to hear addresses by Drs. J.
E. Eby and T. P. Hlnman, of Atlanta.
The barbecue was served by W. K.
Young and #as one of the best this
season.

ONE KILLED, THREE HURT
WHEN TRAIN IS DERAILED
Montreal, Juns 15.—The Boston
tniln on the Central Vermont railroad,
due here at 10:10. o'clock last night,'
was derailed near Iberville, Quebec.
Fireman Martin, of St. Albans, Vt.,
was caught between the locomotive
and tender and killed. Engineer Fortin,
also of St. Albans^ and two passen
gers were slightly Injured, but were
able to proceed to this city. .

Macon, Ga., Jun. 15;—That the of

hibition law was demonstrated when J.
F. Herring, a grocer, was convicted on
the charge of selling liquor and sen
tenced to seven months on the county
chalngang and live months In Jail. The
chalngang sentence may be relieved by
the paymet of 1600, but ho will have
to serve the jail sentence unless the
overnor or, the higher courts inter-
sre.

BIBB COUNTY FARMERS
TO MEET AUGUST 5
Macon, Ga., June 15,—Bibb county
farmer* vdlll have a big time here Au
gust 6, when officials of the Stats
School of Agriculture will be here to
hold an Institute, and will bring with
them a large display from Athens.
Professor A. M. Soule, Professor J. E.
Hite and. In fact, practically all of
the faculty will" be here, nnd Commis
sioner T. G. Hudson will especially be
urged to be present. ' It Is believed that
fully 3,000 nibb county farmers nnd
their families will attend the Institute,
and local business men are preparing
to glvo them a line reception.

hotel. They were drawn on the Lee
National bank at Lee. Mass. The bank
refused to honor the checks and
Smith's family refused to stand by him

Psach Shipment Is 8low.
Macon, Ga.. Juno 15.—The peach
shipment has been very alow from this
section so far. Up to date but 125 cars
have been nhlpped, against more than
1.000 for the some period last season.
There were more than 4,000 cars
hipped from this section during the
entire season last year, and It was ex
pected that fully 1,000 would be
shipped this year, but at this time ft
seems that a much smaller number will
be sent.
