Athen., Ga., June 19.—The board of
trustee. 6f the Urilvenilty of Georgia at
their meeting Saturday passed a rew>-
lutlon to the effect that while they were
in favor of giving thetglrls of the state
a* high an education as I. offered' to
the boys, owing to their present finan
cial condition they could not recom
mend that Lucy Cobb Institute be In
corporated Into the university system.
The board of trustees of Lucy Cobb
Institute are In favor of having that
Institute Incorporated Into the universi
ty system and offered the school build
ings and grounds to the university,
asking that It be made a part of the
system. The grounds and buildings are
worth about 2100,000.
The resolutions of the trustees were
as follows:
"Resolved, That the board Is hearti
ly in favor of offering to the girls of
the state the same opportunities of
higher education as are now offered to
the boys, we are not In favor of co
education. but we are In favor of the
state offering the same facilities to Our
girls as to our boys.
“Resolved, That In view of our pres
ent financial condition, without regard
to any other question, we Can not at
this time recommend the acceptance of
the proposition of the board of trus
tees of the Lucy Cobb Institute, con
tained In the letter of Messrs. Cobb
and Barrow to the chairman of the
prudential committee.”
- Fraternity Chapter Houses.
The Phi Delta Theta fratemtty at
the University of Georgia, thru Judge
J. J. Strickland, E. H. Dorsey and
T. W. Reed, made a request of the
board of trustees that the unlveratty
donate the fraternity e plot of land on
the university campus on which' to
build a chapter house. The matter wee
referred to the prudential committee to
be taken up by them wlffl the repre
sentative* of the other fraternities at
the college to see If some uniform ac
tion can not Be reached.
It Is th* desire of the university au-
thorRIes that alt the fraternities even
tually have their* chapter houses on
the campus of the university In a
group. In this way the fraternities will
bo under the direct supervision of ths
authorities, and ths fraternities them
selves will be benefited In that the land
will be given them by the university on
which to erect their- buildings.
Dr. Alexander 8peaks.
Rev. William McF'adden Alexander.

telling how neceesary It It to every
young man to have not only Christian
faith, but faith In himself, his chosen
work end In God.
Governor Joseph M. Brown, the board
