Scandal of Startling Propor
tions Unearthed in Army
Supply Department.
Mexico City, June 24.—Following the
discovery. of. graft In the nrmy supply
department aggregating 110,000,000, all
of the government purchasing agents
have resigned. It la alleged that General
Coslo, minister of war, got practically
all of the money.
General Manuel Mondragon haa been
ordered to proceed at once to Europe,
where supplies were bought, to Insti
tute a searching Investigation. Gen
eral Mondragon, chief of ordnance, was
able to prove his Innocence of partici
pation in the matter and has been com
missioned to replenish the artillery of
the army. The period of grafting ex
tended over 30 year*. Much of the am
munition and great percentage of the
army supplies purchased during that
time were practically useless. Quanti
ties ' of field artillery and rapid-fire
guns, supposed to be built of the beat
quality of steel, have been found to be
nothing but cast Iron and to fire one of
them would mean certain disaster.

SPLENDID ORGAN MUSIC
PROMISED FOR SUNDAY
'An unusually brilliant program is an
nounced by Dr. Percy J. Starnes for
Surday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the
Auditorium. It Includes some of. the
greatest compositions for the organ and
a famous operatic number. It Is as
follows:
Weber—Overture to the Opera "Der
Freischutz.” The opera of “Der
Frelschutz” (first produced at Berlin In
1821) Is. generally regarded as Weber's
master work. The overture Is mainly
constructed upon theme, taken from
the opera Itself—a mode of treatment
which was new at the time and. re
garded as a daring Innovation, but It
has been adopted by nearly all sub
sequent composers. Including Meyer
beer and Wagner.
Godard—Berceuse From “Jocelyn."
This lovely cradle song, from Godard's
best opera, will always stand In the
hearts of all true music-lovers as a
genuine bit of Inspiration.

way of contrast, a second subject Is

quaint nnd reposeful; a happy effect
being produced by the Interpolation of

The third and final movement—allegro

PECAN GROVES
SAFE AND PROFITABLE
Twenty years of Pecan growing in Georgia has proven two facts,

Just put these two facts together and figure out the results. We
have a very desirable proposition. MVrite us today"for full particu
