New York, July 24.—The cotton market
heavy liquidation here and poor
cables from Liverpool and other cen
ters. Spot here Joined In the heavy move
ment and helped to force down the list
Bears here also took account of lessenlnK
rain In the central and eastern part of the
belt. Futures and soot were easy and
quiet at Liverpool and Manchester.
The market continued under pressure
during the morning session, and at 2
o'clock showed declines of 22 to 25 points
for all positions except July, which was 10
points above the previous close.

Atlanta, July 24.—Quite a severs etorm
exists this morning In the upper St. Law
rence valley, with the atmospheric pres
sure below 29.8 Inches at Tarry Sound,
Canada. Thla disturbance waa accom
panied by local rains throughout the I,ake
region and north Atlantic states, and the
rain area extends westward over Min
nesota and the Dakotas.
In the cotton belt the weather re
mains generally cloudy and threatening,
with light showers chiefly along the
northern border. The largest amounts of
was Duluth, 1.08 Inches, and Sault
Ste. Marie 1.40.
The special feature on the weather
map thla morning is the appearance of
an area of high atmospheric pressure In
the Northwest, central over Montana and
Wyoming, and accompanied by a "cool
wave." The 7 a. m. temperature waa
down to 40 degrees at Sheridan. Wyo.; 44
degrees at Havre. Mont., and 46 degrees
