MOORE, MAN OF MYSTERY,
CARRIED SECRET TO GRAVE
Some 35 years ago then drifted Into
Atlanta a quiet, unobtrusive man who
gave his name ajs William C. Moore.
Thursday night ha died as quietly as
he had lived.
Moore, aa he called himself, obtained
dglngs with J. A. Parts, sign painter,
id when Paris dlsd ton years ago ho
still lived with the family. Soon after
he came to the city he sought work as
a house painter and eoon proved so
skilled that hla services wars sought
after by all who recognised good work
and were willing to pay for It Ho
never talked with any one aa to his
past or where he cams from. To all
questions as to where he formerly lived
he answered evasively: “The North."
To tho family with whom ho made hla
home ho was friendly In a quiet way
and they soon grow to respect hla ec
centricity, as they termed It, aad
ceased to ask Kim qneatlona Among
the men with whom ho worked he made
no friends, not ovsn acquaintances. Hts
work brought him a fairly good Income
and he saved a little from year to year,
so that when the end came he would
havo something to pay for a proper
burial.
Up to two weeks ago Moore, who was
supposed to be about 70 years oM.
steadily at work, coming and goliti
regularly as the clock. Then hs I
came 111 and died, giving no mesa
