First Meeting of Womans Club For Club
Year
The Atlanta Woman** club held It*
first meeting for the fall on Monday
afternoon at the club hou*e on Baker-
at., the president, Mr*. Wood* White,
presiding. A large and enthusiastic
audience was present and the meeting
had a most delightful social side, many
of the club member* meeting for the
first time since the summer vacation.
After the minutes nnd treasurer's r
ports, Mrs. P. J. McGovern presented
29 new names, the new members In

hearty Indorsement to this movement.

An Interesting announcement of the
afternoon was that Dr. Btewart 8. Mac-
Arthur. the distinguished New York
divine who Is spending some tlmo In
Atlanta, will lecture to the club mem
bers on “Ecumenical Meliorism** on No
vember 13.
The new chairmen who will serve
the c lub throughout the year were then
presented nnd each wss heartily ap
plauded as she gave a brief outline of
the year** work.

to broaden the work as chairman of the

Industrial committee has mapped out a
line of work In this direction. Mr*.
Linton C. Hopkins told of her plan* for
the lecture committee. Mrs. Hollins
Randolph »* chairman of the library
committee asked the earnest co-opera
tion of the club members In her work.
Mrs. Wllllum C. Bplker spoke of her
work as chnlrinan of the literature com
mittee. Mrs. Hamilton Itouglas, the
retiring president of the club, os chair
man of the parliamentary law commit
tee told of her work. Mr*. Fred L.
Heely spoke In an Interesting manner
of her plan for the work of the prison
and Jails committee, of which she Is
halrman. nnd said that one meeting
would be devoted to this subject. Miss
Haruh G. Whaley outlined her plans for
tho work of the sociology committee.
The efforts of these chairmen will re
sult In a year, which will doubtless be
most happy and successful.
Mrs. Woods White, the president,
then gave her opening address, a
thoughtful and forceful tAlk, which Is

Woman's club, and her presence at the
meeting was one of the happiest fea
