Ham J. Cummins, captain of Industry
from Nashville. Tenn., one of the men
whose financial activities ara said to
have wrecked the Carnegie Trust Com
pany, was started today before Justice
Vernon M. Davis In the supreme court.
Cummins will bo tried on one of two
Indictments, the charge being the lar
ceny of $140,000 In connection with tho
failure of the Carnegie Trust Company.
Cummins showsd up In court-prompt,
ly and his lawyer. Max D. Steuar, said
he was ready. District Attorney Whit
man Is himself handling the prosecu
tion.

O. Morton, 90 years old. second oldest
bank president In the United States,

dearing terms. Griswold testified that
ho 1s greatly the Junior of Mias Smith,
who Is past 40 and has a son fourteen
years old. It Is expected that Miss
Smith will take the witness stand In an
effort to refute Griswold's claim that
he was ever her accepted suitor.

M. Revels, wall known farmer* living
about four miles west of here, were
shot and almoat Instantly killed this
morning.
Th* difficulty was due to Hill's hog*
going thru a cron-fence and trespass
ing on Revela’ crop. The men met In
the field and before many words had
passed Hill shot Revela. Brooks Revels,
a young son of J. M. Ravel*; shot Hill
In th* brain. Both men died Instantly.
The dead men were jbout 60 years old
