Hot Springs, Vs, Nov, 3.—President
Taft Is here to spend four days testing
up after hla 45-day trip which ended
with the review of tho battleship fleet
In New York. On stepping from the
train thla morning to take an automo

ing his stay here, the president ob

"It waa a great trip," remarked tne

ple of the country far better."
During the trip. Including the one to
Hot Springs, the president covered 15.-
720 miles. The original trip, which did
not Include the Jaunt to Morgantown,
W. Va., and New York, was to have
constituted 12.084 miles. The president

which—Nevada, Indiana, Maryland,
Ohio and Massachusetts—he made no
speeches.
The white house record of speeches
delivered by the president, as given out
by Secretary Hllles, Is $06 for the entire
trip. They were made at 205 stops,
which Included cities, towns and flag
stations. The president made
speeches In Kansas, the record for any

ton. The greatest number of speeches
In any one city was 11, In Chicago, with

According to Secretary Hllles' figures,
the president talked to 1,650,000 persons
on the entire trip, while 2,950,000 peo
ple watched him pass along the streets.
These figures are regarded as extreme
ly conservative. It le safe to say that

cinnati for a day, starting next Monday
nlght. He will make a four-day trip
from Cincinnati Into Kentucky and
