club. Mrs. Seely occupies an important official position with that organization alsd. Her election ae president ef

city, who are convinced that she willl make a charming, able and enthusiastic presiding officer.

The Nine O'clock german on Friday
evenlng at the Piedmont Driving club
will be one of the happiest events of the
season and the first given by the club

Battey at her homo on FOurteenth-et.
Tito affair was a delightful - compli
ment to Miss Nadine Betts, of Utica.
N. Y., who Is the house guest of Miss
Battey, and for three of tho season'd
very lovely debutantes, Miss Laura
Cowles, Miss Emily Wlnshlp and Miss
Jennie Knox.
Tho entire houso was prettily deco
rated with vases of pink roses and
ferns, with the usual pretty house
plants and follago plants.
The hostess and tho group of pretty
honor guests received 111 the drawing
room and mado a charming picture.
The guests wore the prettiest of after
noon toilets and the occasion was
marked by the happiest spirit of In
formality.
In the dining room tho table was
covered with a lace cloth and had for a
centerpiece an effective arrangement of
pink rosea and fern* whtlo there wore
pink-shaded tapers on tho table and sil
ver compotes tilled with pink and white
bonbons and sweets.
Tea was poured from a prettily deco
rated table and delicious refreshments
were served, the tees and cakes being
pink and white.
Assisting In entertaining were Miss
Battey'a mother, Mr* George Battey,
her sletcr, Mrs. George, Bonney, and
Miss Susie Hollmon, Miss Ethel Nobel,
Miss Ruth Stalllnge, Miss Clifford West
and Sira. Frank Holland.

and crystal beads, the skirt finished |

ored satin combined -with kings blue
chiffon.
The ladles of the recoivlng party
wore the prettiest’ afternoon toilets.
Mrs. George Bsttey was gowned In
gray voile over gray silk, the corsage
trimmed In cut steel beads.
Mrs. George Bonney wqve navy blue
velvet combined with point lace.
Miss Clifford West wore del blue
crepe de chine, the blouse of blue mar
quisette veiling pompadour silk.
The guests included only the mem-
bers of the debutante set and the re
cent brides.

The guests were received In the
drawing room, where the decorations
were of Killarney roses and ferns, and
a delicious luncheon was served fig the
dining ropm. where the handsomely ap
pointed table was decorated In pink and
whit* Resting on the embroidered cen
terpiece of Pina cloth was s browp
rustic basket filled with Killarney roses
and ferns. The silver candlesticks held
pink tapers tipped with pluk silk shades
anil the bonbons and creamed sweets
were in pink and white, the pretty color
