^ Miss Adgate Ellis, and the happiest
spirit of hospitality marked the affair.

Miss Kelson Chambliss, of Chatta
nooga, whose visit to Miss Lula Dean
tones has been the occasion for a round
of delightful entertainments, was . ten

party Saturday afternoon by Mrs. W.
c. Humphries.
The house was decorated In the usual
pretty house plants and foliage plants,
and there were blooming azaleas In the
library. ,,
The prizes for the Interesting game of
bridge Included a pretty souvenir for
lop score, and two fancy skirt hangers
for consolation.
Miss Chambliss was given an engage
ment book, and Miss Jones a deck of
cards. ' • '
Refreshments were served at the
close of the game, a delightful hospi
tality being dispensed by the hostess,
who was gowned In ecru mull over
satin.
The guests of the afternoon were

Lexington, Ga„ December- 16.—The
msrrtsge of Miss Elizabeth Knox Fauzt
and Mr. Frank, Armlstead Shipley, of
Greensboro, took place Thursday.
The bride Is a daughter of Dr. and
Airs. Walter Z. Faust and was one of
the recognized social leaders of the
town. Mr. Shipley, the groom. Is cash
l‘T of one of the largest banks of
Greensboro.
The ceremony took place at the Pres
byterian church. ,
To the strains of the wedding march,
played by Miss Elolse Smith, of Greens,
hero, the two flower girls, Misses Jen
nie Faust and Winifred Smith, came
down the aisle, followed .by the bride
mid the maid of honor. Miss Bella
Faust, her sister. Then dow’n an op
posite aisle came the groom accompa
nied by his best man, Mr. J. T. Sisk,
nf Greensboro. Proceeding to the altar,
the couple were made man and wife
with a very Impressive ceremony,’per-
fnrmeil by Rev. H. M. McMcans, of
Greensboro.
The bride was gowned In white bro
caded satin trimmed with fringe nnd
pearls nnd carried white roses and
ferns. The maid of honor wore white
marquisette over green satin and car
ried white carnations. Miss Smith
wore yellow satin trimmed with crystal
and wore a large black picture hat.
The bride's mother wore black silk.
The ushers ware Messrs. Smith and
Armour, of Greensboro, and Messrs. Joe
and Walter Faust, brothers of the
bride.
Shortly after the ceremony the cou
ple left for Greensboro, where they will
make their future home.

With the approach of the holiday sea
son the social side of life grows bright
er for the college girls and boys who
are out of Jbhool temporarily and free
to Indulge In the pleasure of parties,
as are their, older slaters and brothers.
However, It Is a welt known fact among
thpse most concerned that the younge^
set Is'not wholly devoid of social recre
ation. even during the long, long sea
son when vacations are not. *
For a number of years Segadto's hall
has been the'rendezvous of ths young
contingent In Atlanta society, and
many and merry have been the parties
enjoyed ther,. At the present tlmo the
Saturday afternoon dances held at Se-
gadlo's give the young people oppor
tunity for many happy hours These
dances, which take place, from E to 7
o'clock on each Saturday' afternoon, are
largely attended exclusively, by the
college set and by the debutante set,
members of which And time to return
to Segadlo's on Saturday afternoon
despite the numerous engagements
which beset’ the popular bud of the
season. They remember the delightful
Informality and genuine pleasure of
these matinee dances, which often
eclipse In this particular the more
pretentious formal ball. The visiting
glria, too, are always brought by their
hostesses to the Saturday dances, thslr
presence adding to . the pleasure of
these occasions.
At these Saturday dances there Is
always merry musfe. such as youthful
dancers like, rendered by a good or
chestra, and a cordial hospitality per
vades the atmosphere. Miss Lillian
Viola Moseley, asslsted'by the mothers
of some of the girls present, receives
and chaperons the party, which usually
lasts about two hours. The pleasure Is
continuous, ths Insistent young people
hardly permitting the orchestra to rest
a moment during the afternoon.
The hall Is admirably adapted to
dancing parties of this kind. The spa
cious apartment, which has recently
been beautlfuly renewed throughout,
has a floor equal. If not better, than
any In the city.
The dances on Saturday afternoon
will continue as unuhl thru the holiday
season. There will be a dance from E to
7 o’clock Saturday afternoon and on
next Saturday afternoon at ths same
heur there will be a dance. On Christ-
may day a special holiday dance will
be given for the members of ths college
set and the debutantes. There will be
a large number of visitors hers at that
time, and the many Atlanta girls and
boys who are students at Various col
leges over the country will be In the
city for the holldaysi-hencc the Christ
ina* dance will be unusually large and

and young men have a warm place In
their esteem for Miss Moseley and . the
Saturday afternoon dance at Segadlo’s
Many of the debutantes and college
girls are also members of the esthetic
classes for young women, which meet
with Miss Moseley once a week. These
occasions are full of pleasure, a'nd In
terest. The young Indies are daintily
artistic in the execution of the many
beautiful classlcnl poses, making a
moving picture of grace, which brings
delighted appreciation of the value of
this esthetic training to the onlooker.

30 guests were present, and the deco
rations wers In pink and green- The

and the dainty courses served carried
out the pink color motif.

a pink marquisette gown, made over
white, and combined with velvet bro
caded chiffon. Her hostess, Mrs. Nfn-

On Saturday morning Mrs. Ruther

to meet Mrs. Aldrich at 11:10 o'clock.
The decorations of Mrs. Lipscomb’s
horns were In red rosea and holly, and
a dainty luncheon was served. Mrs.
Aldrich was gowned In a charming cos.
tume of black and white, the corsage
ot. white lace veiled In black chiffon
and the eklrt of black velvet, a coral
colored girdle giving the touch of color.
She wore a black hat, with white
plumes.

a limited number of friends were gath
ered In pretty rooms, decorated In roses
nml palms. Mrs. Lockcy dispensed a
cordial hospitality, wearing a gown of
biscuit-colored chiffon over satin.
Later In the afternoon Mrs. Aldrich
attended the Capital City club open
ing, and sho will be entertained at a

School for Boys at Stone Mountain en
tertained at a very enjoyable dance
Friday, evenlhg. The dance was given
In the gymnasium of the school, where
there were decorations of holly and
greenery, with college pennants, etc.
Refreshments were served, and an
orchestra provided music thrughout the
evening.
The guests, who Included a number of
young people from Atlanta, left At
lanta at 2:20 o'clock and returned home
at 2 o'clock, the party being chaperoned
by Mrs. Coles, Mrs. Haden and Mr.
Cameron.
Among the young people who were
