ATLANTA, OCTOBER 12, 1857. From the New York Daily Newt. Removal of the Remains of H ugh Swinton Logare from Mount Auburn Cemetery to Charleston South Caro lina- We learn that Richard Tendon, E°q., of the Charleston (S C) Courier, leare* this city this morning h.mewitrd, baring discharged the solemn office of disinterring the remains of the lato Hugh Swinton Legnre at Mount Auburn Cemetery, near Boaton, for the pur pose of removing them to Magnolia Cemete ry, near Charleston, where a monument is to. be erected to the illuatrioca dead. It will be remembered that in June, 1843, Mr Legate, thee Attorney General o tbe Dniled Siatet, and Secretary of State ad interim, (Mr Web ster baring recently reaigoed the seals of tbe State Department,) accompanied President Tyler and tbe rest of his Cabinet to Boaton to attend, by special invitation, the anniv.v. sary Bunker Hill oelebration of that year.— Legare uriircd io Boston on tbe 16th June, the day before the anniversary, and attended the Corporation dinner given that day to President Tyler by the city nulhoriliea. On the morning of the anniversary, in the commemoration of wbiob be was to have 'torne a prominent part ia response to a toast from Mr George T Curtis, complimentary to S. Carolina, he awoke with the fatal disease, ian inter lusception of the inteatice.,) which resisted all treatment, aod terminated in bis lamented death at 5 o'clock, A M , on the JOih Juno, 1843, aged about 47 jeais, in ' the very smith of his usefulness and faite.- PtA t* to k.a deatn, bo wu» removed Irom the'Treat, a House, where he had taken lodgings, to tu " -Midor.ee of bi» iuiiutaiu fru-.d, Georgs TiCa. . Tbs citi- a.ns and aulhotiiiea of Boston gava every t u . e n of sympathy and iffliction on Ibe sau event, and paid the deceased funeral honors, at tbu public charge. They .went farther, and pn.ff.nd a monument io hie deceased at Mount Auburn, but Mr. Spencer, then S.c rttaryefthe Treasury, do.l n d the ofler, saying that it devolved on Congnar to re move tbe body to the Googrcasional Cemete ry, near Washington', and there do mono- mental honors to the illustrious dead. Toe body was accordingly placed, temporarily, in tbe family vault of Mr. T.'cknor, of Boston, end * ongreas having failed to act in the pre- ht'sesV it there remain) d until the year .1851* w/,e D ataovof’ by bis sister’s dirco- 1 «ft>o» 1,863.-Spruce av.'nuo. in —Tloanl Auburn Cemetery, where a founda tion was laid for a monument. Vahona untoward circumstances delayed the ereetlon of the intended monument, (iA-~srd wbiob measure* had been aetually iu.ututed,) at Mount Auburn, until tbe in terposition of Mr. Yeadon gave a different direorion to the matter', and now the re- nuina of this gifted son, orator and states man of tbe P-lmeito State, with the assent of his only surviving sister god nearest tor- tiring relative, iod the approval of his M- low-citiicni, Witt repose in hi* mother toil i and there will aoon rise at Magnolia Ceme tery, on the banka of the beautiful and ro. maotio Ktiwan, a'fitting monument to dee parted genius, greatness and worth. We learn that in Compliance with tbe ex> preavdlreetlou and stipulation of the sister ljgare (now Mre. Lowell Bnileo of Marion, of Iowa.) the body will baoonveytd^rom Bos, too to Charles too in charge of Adams’ Ex press, entirely by tho land route, to avoid eiooiui.'k.rje perils of the sea. The diss : place at Mount Anborn on st, and the mahogany oofflo, tout a JietaQIo or other Canon Valley.—Tbe people of this val ley have taken the initiative steps towards tho formation of a now Territory from the wostorn portion of Utah. A memorial, to that end has hern addrouod to Congrcss | and Judge J. M. Cranx appointed territori al agent to carry it to Washington. The population of tho Valley is rapidly increas ing, and strong reasons aro presented in the memorial why saoli a Territory should be organised. Indeed, they seem to as unan swerable. From Salt Lake City to Carson Valley, {the distance is aoariy or quite eight hundred miles by the emigrant travel, aud by any route it is too distant to tri crowned by a Guvernor aud territorial legislature located at Salt Lake City. Particularly is this the case whoo we take into considera tion the fact that dosorts intervene. Until they can obtain at tbe bands of QSbgross an organized Territory, the people in those valleys East of the Sierra Nev.ada must make nod administer their own laws. They--^ Julj aro now literally without government and without law. There is au additional and strong reason'suggesting tho propriety of establishing the ucw Territory at the earii est possible d:y. Tho settlors of Cnrsoo Valley are inimical to tbe Murmorsandthe placing between Salt Lake and California a strong and growing settlement will tend greatly to conflue the power, and curb tho growth of tbe great physical and moral monstrosity of the age.—Baltimore Aram, cun. It is stated that our friend Horace, in his hurry to get to a party to which bo was, by some uoaccoiotablo means, invited, actually pulled his kid gloves over his stockings, and put his pomps u|kju his hands ; nor did be find out his mistake until after he bad o:* deted his foot to dance with the hosttsa.
