Yesterday being the opening d»J ef the
annuel Fate of the Southern Central Agri
cultural Society, we repaired at an early

last ten years, the exportation of specie

024, to (69.136,922. The net total export
of specie in tha same period has been (£40,-

by any pereon, (except anch as are refur

red, (the amount of which stock shall bo
returned on oath by the owner thereof or
his agent te the Marshals of the city .whose
duty it shall be to report tho same to ihe
Tax Receiver and Collector of the city,)

ever at any time a merchant in this city,ex

show that your petitioner lias never paid

It is therefore the opinion of your Com
mittee, that the stock in trade of your pe-
tioner comes properly, not only within the
letter but the spirit of the Ordinance, which
your Committee are well assured intended,
(as the language clearly indicates,) to in
clude all merchandize which was not an
addition to a former stock upon which tax
