following article from the Baltimore Amer

beaeflt of all whom it troy concern:' ! ■
To tie successful, advertisements must be
presented through the right means, and
corno before tho reader at the right time to
secure his favorable consideration. That
means is the daily paper. To that tbe pur-
chaser looki ea the legitimate place fer ilia
i- formation ho seeks, and he Unde it there
nhnn most in tho disposition to dwell npon
Its statements and noto its feats. There it
meets the eye of the reader when he is at
lensure to note its import. Ha ha* it ro,
pouted to him day after day, and as hie
wants are suggested he recurs to it for
guidance. No man who has relied upon
this means of advertjsiog, and judiciously
pursued it, has over regreted the expendi
ture in viow of litu results, whilst instances
aro repeatedly occnring iu which thousands
of expensivo circular*, distributed liberal) -
among those it was desired to reach, have
in led iu producing any upprcciablo advant
age.
The mistako which most advertisers
make is in tbn want of persistence in seek
ing the no uns of publicity that a daily issiis
yd and daily read paper affords. They nd-
varlhse occasionally or spatiugly, look un
wisely, for un immediate or extiuvagaut
roiuru, aud not meeting it becomes discour-
ugod und uhnnJou the road of success jost
nt the very utomout that they aroJatrly
stepping into tho right path. Almost every
advertisement judiciously placed will give
adtquato roiuru. If if secure but oee or
two customers, and in this it rarely fails, it
puvs far itself.
But it is the continuous, persistent adver
tiser who reaps the harvest. This ail news
