ATLANTA, DECEMBER 23, 1857 [COMMUNICXTED.] To this American* of Fulton County. Your party "failing to make nominations’ for tha election of County Officers, to como off on tho first Monday in January next, it bahoayea you to make tho inquiry, for whom will you east your voles upon Ihnt day! There are two sets of candidates in the field—one the regularly nominated can didates 6f the Democratic party, who hare boon selected and put forward as the choice of tfitir party. The other s forced sot, who hare put themielrea forward upon you nolens miens. While there was ample time for a nomination—tor fear of being cut out by others more worthy than themselves— they announced themselves as candidates, and thereby debarred the claims of good and true men of your party, who are justly entiled to a consideration in your nomina tions! and who demanded that considcras lion of yout I will press the question home upon you. Why did not the American party of Fulton county hold a nomination for County Officers! Was it that you thought by not nominating yon could steal Democratic votes and gain strength! No! You will not acknowledge that. For, if that was yonr aim, you are oertain to lose by it, inasmuch as the moment you an nounced yourselves as independent candid ate*, all party obligation* were then thrown off. Why theo, I aak, did you not nomin ate! The fact has leaked out that some of the old Officers would not submit to a nomination. Said ’that if a nomination was held and they not nominated, they would ran any how!’ Accordingly they tnnounced themselves as candidates and thereby /breed themselves npon you. Will you support them! Jfany of you true to one of yeur most noble principles, "Let the efficejseok the man, and not the man the office,” will not support them, but will east your votes for tho Domooratio nomin ees, and thereby aid in effecting a change in county officers, in spite of the present Ineunityent*, who so nicely chiseled you In oppdeing n nomination.
