The Burglary at Calhoun.
On Tuesday 1 ight las', says tfce Georgia
Platform, there were several of the mbit
daring burglaries committed, in this piace,
that we have heard of for a lorn; time. Five
private dwellings weie entered and rifled of
valuable contents. In each, the burglars
went into the rooms where the inmates were
sleeping and look everything that could te-
foaad in the shape ot jeweiery or money.—
From Dr. W. W. Wall were stolen a watch
nod some jeweiery of bis wife's. From ri. E.
Binioe, one hundred and thirty dollars in
money. From J. D. Phillips thirteen dol
lars in cash and some jeweiery. From Hen
ry Reese’s dwelling amount unknown.—
Francis A Mims, twenty dollars in cash
also bis keys, with that to the safe at the
depot." These keys were fouod next morn
ing at the depot steps, where they were left
w.e suppose, after as unsuccessful effort to
get into the depot, where a large amount of
money waa co deposit. We understand that
on the night previous several similar robber-
jet wero committed in Daltoh, am] on tbo
night previous to that in Ringgold. Judg
ing from these facts, there must be an organ-
izsd land of burglars in the couotry. We
would waiu all to keep ont a keen watch for
tho viilitna.
P. S.—Since penning the above, one of
the thieves haa'beeo arrested, and upon bin
I person waa found Dr. Wall's watch. The
otter made hia escape. The arrest took
plaes at Cam Depot where they had been
persued iy several persons "from this piace
