<Thf jDniht gnttUifltttfrr. ATLANTA, GEORGIA. Sunday Morning. Deo. 20, 1808. It will he beck from a special notice in this morning's paper, that the Hey. Dr. A. Means rafnesta his correspondents to address him, until the loth April next, at Sarannab, instead of Oxford, Georgia. The Christian Church.—This denomina tion has secured the Hall over Kendrick’s Car pet Store, corner of Broad and Marietta streets, aud in future services will lake place every Sun day morning at half-past ten o’clock. The Bible class will meet at half-past nine. F. M. Richardson.—Our readers will find an advertisement in our column of the above nam ed’ firm. Our readers will bear in mind that Frank has everything in the line of a house- kieper, and who would not patronize a firm that advertises, we would like to know ? For Europe—We learn from Mr. E. B. Walker, Master Transportation State Road, that the Statisa will commence loading at Norfolk lor Liverpool on the tenth proximo. Com pressed cotton will be carried for $d. and imcom- pressed for ll-16d. No charge will be made for wharfage, loading, or forwarding. Correction.—In noiicing “The Amaranth,” a Toluma of Southern poems edited by Miss Brock, some days since, wa failed to mention that the proceeds accruing from the sale would be devoted to the educational interests of Atlan ta. This should bean additional motive for our people to purchase. PEASE A HIS WIFE’S Empire Restaurant I B n«rer closed, day or night, except Sundays, when It is open from 8 a. in. to i p. m. and from 6 p. m. to 8 p. m. Onr House, now complete and elegantly furnished. Is admirably arranged for the accommodation of all of onr patrons. Having separate apartmenis for Ladies, and a private entrance, we shall lie happy to extend to them the hos pitality of the iloa!>e. Grmierul for the many farors received in the pa*t, and the liberal patronage of the people of Atlanta daring the last three years, w- are proud to acknovrled e onr sense ol gratitude to at! who have thus t-netained ug. and by whose continued confidence our interests are anil pro tected. Asking only for the patronage (lne to merit, and a fair equivalent lor services rendered, onr purpose still is to koep the pot a-boiling. OWTERS, by the Quart $0 75 OISTKKM, by the Gallon 3 SO novlS—3m PE4RE AND 1113 WIFE. SANTA CLATJS DEPOT ! iy^g-«»lMPORTANT TO EVKKYliODY.—John M w—Gannon is now opening at his one- price Dry Goods Store, corner Whitehall and Hunter streets, the largest and cheapest stock o goods that he has ever offered to the peopte of Atlanta and vicinity. He has a buyer in New York every day in the year, who is at all times prepared to take advantage of any decline that may take place in Dry Goods. Gannon’s motto is “One Price—Quick Sales and Small Profits— all Goods Warranted.” The one price system insures fair dealing to everybody. A splendid stock of new goods will be opened Monday, November 80th. For particulars see advertise ment elsewhere. nov29—lm Officer Wooding has just returned from Oglethorpe county, and reports the recovery ol $4,200 more of the funds lately stolen from Mr. Jesse Dalton, as advertised in our columns. A full repoit of the apprehension of the parties aud money we will furnish in our Tuesday morn iug’s paper. Jack & Co.—W« bad a glance at the stock of this firm, and pronounce it the most complete in the State. What you cannot find in the shape of a Christmas gift at Jack & Co.’s, you need go uowhere else in search of. Notice their ad vertisement in another column, and patronize an institution that is liberal in the use of print er’s ink. A Change—We might have said two changes — one that everybody knows about is in the weather; as a carpet-bagger would say, it’s abful ksold, but tits change which we wish to inform our readeis ot is Champe’s change. He has removed bis tailoring establishment to Ala bama street, next door to the Era office. Champe is getting along smmfngly well. He isn’t afraid of anybody—he gave a great big fellow fits yesterday. Uuu fhinds over the way, Redwine & Fox, advertise only a small lot of McCormick Neal’s Catawba Brandy, lor a bottle of which we make our most graceful bow, and having tried it, pro nounce it the most delicious beverage, as well as a good medicine, that can be procured either for the convalescent or sick ; in fact, it is decidedly the best we have ever tasted, and our readers must know that newspaper men are good judges— hut dou’t take our word, go and procure a bot tle from Redwine & Fox, before it is all gone. Christmas 1 Christmas ! I—Just received at JP. H. Snook & Co.’s a large and varied assort ment ot elegant goods for Christmas presents, consisting in part of gorgeous Silver Sets, Watch es, Card Cases, elegant Silver Cups and Goblets, beautiful revolving Butter Dishes, Castors, Sil ver Forks and Spoons. Also, a large assort ment ot ladies’ and gents’ gold and silver watch es. A large and elegant stock of 18 caret gold jewelry. Also, a handsome line of sensation jewelry, fine pocket cutlery, etc., etc. First Round of Quarterly Conferences —Atlanta District.—City Mission, Atlanta, 3d Saturday and Sunday in December; Coving ton, 4th Saturday and Sunday in December; Monroe and Social Circle, 1st Saturday and Sunday in Jauuary ; Triuity, Atlanta, 2d Satur day and Sunday in Jauuary; Conyers, Sd Sat urday and Sunday in January ; Slone Mountain, 4th Saturday and Sunday in January; Decatur, 5th Saturday and Sunday in January; Oxlord, 1st Saturday and Sunday in February; Monti- cello, 2d Saturday and Sunday in February; Wesley Chapel, 3d Saturday and Sunday in February; Lawrence ville, 4th Saturday and Sunday in February; Atlanta Circuit, 1st Satur day and Sunday in March; Fulton Circuit, 2d Saturday aud Sunday in March; Walton, Sd Saturday and Sunday iu March. Atticus G. Haygood, P. E. A Successful Merchant.—It is pleasant to witness the success of a large hearted business man— one who has a soul above Belfish interests and who takes a proper pride in the growth and well-being of his city. Such a merchant is Jnhu M. Gaunon. He is in a fair way to make a fortune, lie buys goods ol the right kind, aud at the right time. He sells at the lowest figure, and never has two prices. His clerks are true gentlemen and as such are admirably adap ted to the honorable manner in which Mr. Gan- uon insists his business shall be conducted. It is useless to attempt to expatiate upon the style of goods which Mr. Gannon is daily receiving.— The masculines know very little about such matters, but we judge from the fact the store is daily thronged, that the goods suit the ladies. -4fr- “New Depot.—The uew depot of the Geor gia Railroad, which is now in course of con struction, located near the junction of Calhoun and Prior s’rects, will be a magnificent super structure. It is two hundred and seventy-five feet long and fifty-four feet wide, a square ot filty-iour let t of which, (the end fronting on Pryor street,) is three stories high. Each story- will contain four large rooms, to be occupied as business offices, with a large hall running clear through and between each room. This depot, when it is completed, will be one ot the most extensive aud best arranged depots in this sec tion. It speaks well ot the sagacity and enter prise ot the experienced railroad company of which it is the property.” Our neighbor, the Constitution, has removed the Georgia Hail toad Depot iu the paragraph above. In order that our readers at a distance nvy not be mistaken, we will state that the new Georgia Railroad Depot is located on Loyd and Alabama streets. Mince Pies.—Our lady readers will know how to appreciate the following receipt: Boil fresh beet or a beef tongue tender, let it cool, then ehop it tine, with one pound of sue', one half-peck of apples, two pounds ot currents, picked and washed very carefully; one pound of citron sliced, hall an ounce each ot powdered cloves, allspice, cinnamon and ginger; three pints of sweet cider, one pint of Madeira wine, halt pint ot brandy, with enough sugar to sweeten to your taste.
