The investigation and exposure

the trafic of these 5000 unfortunate

people of the State. The revenue
derived from the hire of the con

Circuit Court Clerk Shadrick J.
Hale makes his. o mul announce
menl in this issue of The Times ii>'
a candidate for re election to the
office for the third time, and gives
his reasons below for making the
race.
A s is well known to every \ oter
in the county, Mr. H ile is a high
toned gentleman; a very deserving
young man and has made an ex
cellent officer. If is experience
has better fitted him to discharge
the duties of the office than ever
Before and the only thing that can
possibly be brought up against
him is, that he has held the office
a long time. He has held the
office quite a while., but no one
seems to be against him, for that
or any other reason as there are
no prospective or announced can
didates for the place.
See what Mr. Hale has to say
below: f 7
To the voters of Dade County :
I hereby announce myself as a
candidate for re-election (lor the
fourth term) to the office of Supe
rior Court‘Clerk ami in so doing 1
justify mvself by saying that I pro
posed some months ago to my
friends if they had some one else o
offei for clerk, that 1 would not
a candidate for re-election, hut was
ready to support (he other asp:
idiit. Not a mari with whom I
advi.-ed ever -aid for me not to
run, hut on the contrary thny have
all exjiressed themselves as Fatis
hed. At this late hour ojiposition
would sound to ( me ' (intelligentfy
interpreted) as political
scheme, put forth to perfect sorrie
secreted plan, or rather to effect
, some one else, rather than me. I
am assmed tlmt my frfeiids are
satisfied with my administrations,
therefore 1 feel nodelicacy (though
. this be a fourth time) in making
this announcement. To my
friends and unanimous support *?>
I tender my deep gi grati'ude
mv position he one of some
ins nc , \et I very keelrly
realize ft comes from a voice of the
good people; of old Dade. -Tiiore
'ore, 1 desire to express my appre l
ciation for past favors handed
down to me by mv friends
