San Francisco, Aug. 4 —'According to passengers who arrived from Central American ports on the steamer San Joes from Panama relations between the various republics are strained almost to the breaking point and Sal. vador, Honduras and Guatemala are near to an open rupture though it is declared that it will be hard to make a reasonable guess as to where the trouble will start if it dees come. Autopsy at Dellevue Hospital Reveals Remarkable Case. An autopsy revealed the fact that the had ccme into the world practical, ly brainless. The child, when seven hours old, yvas taken to the hospital by her father, Leonardo Gaicomo. lie said he had brought the child'for treat ment because there was something wrong with its head. When tlie child was unwrapped from voluminous clothes it was almost a startling sight. Its head was almost fiat on rop and its eyes stood out from their sockets. It was, however, still breathing normally and cried as an ordinary infant does. Unlike most in fanta, less than * day eld, it took nourishment greedily. It was thought at the hospital that the shape of the child’s head was a malformation. It was not dreamed infant was wholly without brain matter. Monday night, however, the child died while it was being fed. There was nothing to indicate approaching death and no struggle. Simply the infant ceased to breath. An autopsy reveal ed that beyond a rudimentary cerebrum that was scarcely more than an indi cation, the infant had adsolutely no brain. TRIAL OF BIG AIRSHIP. Count Makes Ascension at Knofcstanz. Knobstanz, Germany, Aug. 4. —The weather was excellent Tuesday morn ing when at 0.00 o’clock Count Zep pelin’s great airship emerged from the waters of the lake to a height of about 400 feet and after describing one mag nificent circle ever the lake, proceed ed in a bee-line for this city, arriv ing here at C:55 o’clock. The ship continued on its way and within another hour had covered 45 kilometers and was over en. From that point it continued along the Rhine to Basle. Atlanta, Aug. 4. —After having been out twenty-nine minutes, at He under taking establishment of Harry G. Pool, the Jury empaneled to inquire in. to the death of Lloyd Hardwick, 23 years of age, of 04 Garden street, shot and almost instantly killed on Pied mont avenue, about midnight Satur day, by T. B. Kimbrough, eighteen years of age, cf 185 East North aven ue, brought in a verdict of death from a pistol shot, and recommended that Kimbrough be held as the principal in the shooting, and that Mercer and Farris Stowers, who were witnesses of the affair, be detained for complicity. The three young men were immedi ately cent to the Tower where they are held without the privilege of giving bail. Oklahoma Holds Primary. Guthrie, Ida., Aug. 4. —Oklahoma Tuesday named candidates for political offices by the primary system as au thorized by the law passed by the ftfst legislature cf the new state. The nominees for the lower house of the legislature, one half cf the state senate, all members of con gress, two members of the supreme court, one member of the state corpor ation committee, one member cf the United States senate and members of the precinct, county and state commit tees were chosen. Deputy Feared Violence. |p Pensacola, Fla., Aug. G. —Fearing possible violence at the hands cf the residents, who are bitter over the kill ing and wounding of so many people Wednesday night, when a mob storm ed the jail, Deputy Fhevito B. IT. Eat on, who was wounded himself, left here fer some point in Alabama. He was accompanied as far as Flomatcn by the sheriff, who had been request ed by the deputy to give him, protec tion. The latter received a tele phone message from the point where the deputy went stating that he had arrived in safety. Burglars Make Fiaid. Albany, Ga., Aug. G. —In the town of Bacon ton a band of burglars broke into the Bank of Baconten, the post office and four stores, and made un successful attempts to enter three other stores. The safe in E. D. & J. T. Glausier’s store was dynamited and cleaned of its contents and cash ’drawers were rifled in the other places. The ‘burglars failed to get into the poatoffice safe or tlie bank vault. Found CSC.CCO Check. Chicago, Aug. C —-William Becker, a postoffice wagen driver, found a $50,000 check Tuesday in the driveway beneath the federal building and re ported it to Superintendent Fred Day. The check was payable through the Merchants’ Loan and Trust company. The trust company was notified and a bank messenger was sent for the check.
