School Trustees
To the Trustees of each school
district of Dade county.
I take this method of asking you
through the medium of our county
paper, to make report to me in re
gard to the progress of the schools
in your respective districts. It is
your duty and should be your plea
sure to visit the schools and report
their condition to the County
School Commissioner. There are
only two trustees in the county
who have made report of their
schools and all should have dneo
so by this time. I need your help
and you will will do your duty at
your earliest possible opportunity
and make reports of every school
in the county. Any suggestions
you may make will be thankfully
recieved. Your obedient servant.

A CARD
Clovardaie
Say in your next issue that the
County School Commissioner says
lie did not close the school at Clo
verdale. In my letter I did not
censure anyone for the closing ol
the school except that unjust rul
ing of the Board of Education and
a portion iff the patrons. I liud
from the teachers record that there
was fifty nine students enrolled
and during the second month the
attendance ran down to sixteen. 1
read a letter from the County
School Commissioner saying the
school had iuii and >wn and stating
under the ruling of the Board of
Education unless the attendance
increased lie would close the school
so he visited the school on Tue; and >y
and was piesent when scho -i wa
closed out. I took it for g ned
that he would do his duty s et y
•and under that impression I st itul
he had closed the school.

New England City.
jfPnicse cool mornings remind us
M)f what we have been doing with
our summer wages.
Farmers are beginning to plow
some for wheat and oats.
Dave Brown is on the sick list
this wed .
\Y. G. Morrison and Jeff Street
were here Tuesday.
John F. Mahue was in Chatta
nooga on business, Tuesday.
The Farmer’s Union picnic and
rally here Saturday was a grand
success. Speaking began* about
11 o’ clock by Capt. Wood, of Ce
dargrove, Ga., after which V\ . M.
Payne, State and County organiz
er of Alabama, was introduced by
B .L. Wilson, master of cert monies
and spoke until about 2 o’clock on
the good of the Farmer’s Union,
Which was made very plain to all
after which a sumptious dinner
was spread and enjoyed by every
body. New England City congrat
ulates herself on having one of the
most orderly crowds that ever as
sembled here on such occasions.
Candidates were very conspicuous
and I must say that each one made
an impression. The farmers will
have their next county meeting at
Cloverdale on Oct. 31 1908.
There will be a Sunday School
organized at this place Oct. 4 1908
rt 10 o’clock. Everybody interested
invited. Rev. Allison will be pres
ent.

covered this week.

Court here Monday.
