Lyiie Foard, of St. Elmo was the week-end guest of Hoyt Redding. HOOKER Little Miss Madeline Strawn was the honor of a delightfully planned party when her grand¬ mother Mrs. J. E. Strawn enter¬ tained Saturday afternoon with an Easter egg hunt at her home. The golden egg was found by Master Thomas Richardson. Two other prizes were giveu to Misses Swervilla and Mary Adams for Auams for finding the largest number of eggs. Mrs, J, N. Crick of Tracy City, lenn. spent a few days with home folks last w eek. H. Brock Monday evening with a party at her home, honoring husband’s birthday. The house was a profusion spring flowers and potted the color -scheme of yellow white being carried out in decorations in the living room dining room. The guests were seated at large table which bore a decoration of a large white yellow birthday cake with candles. The favors were yellow Easter baskets. Ellis, Mrs. W. N. Tatum, Mrs. Edgar Wright, Mrs. 0. M. Foster, Misses Lagatha Tatum, Grace Frierson, Mary Rob¬ ertson, Bentie Cole and Prof. N. E. Austin. Mrs. Brock was assist- ! ed in entertaining the guests by Miss Lagatha Tatum and Meredith j Frock. The Christian Endeavor was opened Sunday night April 12 by Jack Sells. CLOSES SPRING TERM The spring term of the New , England school closed last Fri- j day the 10th. i This school is one of the leading Junior High schools of the county, and the past term has been a successful one under the manage¬ ment of Miss Ewing Blake, princi¬ pal and Miss Ersaline Blevins, i assistant. J. S. Blevins is secre¬ tary of the local trustee board. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Taylor and and Mrs. Tom Taylor and children of Atlanta were the week end guests of Henry O iver. Zenas Hambley and family of Stephenson were the week end guests of Mrs. W. B. Smith. The Third Quarterly Conference of the Methodist church w r as con¬ ducted by our presiding elder Rev. S. D. Long, of Chattanooga, Tenn., at Rising Fawn, April 13th. A very profitable service followed, a building committee for the new Methodist church was appointed. Trenton was represented by Mrs. G. W. M., Tatum; Sulphur Springs by G. W. Biddle and Bud Hartline. The next Quarterly Conference will he held at T*nton, Ga., all are urged to attend. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cantrell and little son have returned to their home in Etowah, Tenn. Miss Grace Hale and Mr. E. L. Hale were the Easter guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Hale. George Wilson of this place has accepted a position in Atlanta, Ga. Mrs. W. A. Barton, of Chatta¬ nooga is visiting her sister, Mrs. J. L. White. Mrs. E. M. Allison and Miss Sarah Ilale entertained their Sun¬ day school classes with an egg hunt Saturday afternoon, a large crowd was present and a good time enjoyed by all. Edward Earl Lee, of Montgom¬ ery, Ala., was the week-end guest of friends here. Mrs. R. L. Cagle entertained with a well appointed Easter din¬ ner, th occasion being Mr. Cagle’s birthday. A goodly number of relatives and friends were pres¬ ent. Miss Juliet Bronham is visiting relatives in Stevenson, Ala. Miss Ruth and Mr. Kenneth Woodyard are in Chattanooga for a few days. Mr. Cornelius Williams, of Chat¬ tanooga was here Sunday. Miss Jewel Rutherford and Hix Thurman, of Chattanooga spent a few hours in Rising Fawn, Sun¬ day. Mr. and Mrs. W. Claire Jacoway and little daughter, Ruth Allison, of Chattanooga were the Easter guests of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Al¬ lison. Messrs. Ed and Fletcher Allison spent the week-end here. Mr. B. B. Finch, of Birmingham was the week-end guest of Dr. and Mrs. D. S. Middleton.
