IN MEMORIAM
Resolution On The Death Of
Sister W. J. West
It becomes oui duty, to to ohron- enron
, the r ] e ath of a dear friend
! e beloved sister
,(! neighbor and
jn ,n Christ Dec.
Mrs W J. West was born
• lev 3' 1868. On Jan. 22, visited 1926 , the the
hand of death
home and claimed her for its vic¬
tim faith in Christ
_ rofe , sed
when verv young and lived a true
Christian to the day of her death.
To know her was to love her. She
taken ill on Dec. 3 rd. For
was pltien^
Z rr\er”fflic«on 'aid 'on of her
the night
death, that through her
she had not suffered any severe
pain, and fo r which she was
t hankful. She said ther e was a
ways are. and a bright that we side could to'every^pict- not afford
to look on the dark side.
She and Brother West lived to-
pether happily for thirty-six
years, and have been true
hers of the Rising Fawn Baptist
Church about six years. The
church has 1 lost a good sister,
the neighbors a good neighbor,
an adopted son, Mr. Roy West,
and one daughter, Mrs. Cora Mc¬
Curdy, have lost a good mother,
V — % 7 ---- ^ -
and last, but by no means the
least, Bro. West has lost a good
wife and help-meet in deed
she shared the duties of home
and did her part in that mutual
way that becometh a dutiful
wife. We feel sure that our loss
is her eternal gain. It is 1 useless
to say dear friends, “Don’t weep”
for it is but natural that we
grieve at the death of our loved
ones. But the apostle Paul said,
“Weep not as them that have no
hope.” Again he said, “If in this
life only, we have hope in Christ
we are of all men most miser¬
able.” So we have that sweet
hope of meeting he r in the glory
land, for we feel sure that since
she has vacated a seat in our
church and in her home she fills
a seat in heaven.
Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED:
FIRST : That w e bow in hum¬
ble submission to our heavenly
Father, and thank and'praise y his
name for the life that has been
so beautifully lived out before us.
SECOND: That we extend to
Brother West and children our
heart-felt sympathy in every way
oossible, commending them to
Pirn who is able by his rr precious C1 T
I no\e ove tn to tii turn the * dark hours to
light and mak e the gloomy path¬
way a path of sunshine.
THIRD That these resolutions
he spread upon the Minutes of
our Church as a memorial page,
that a copy be sent the family,
R nd a copy sent to the Dade
f ount y Times for publication.

Her family and friends do mourn
the loss
Of this one that’s passed away,
But, oh, dear friends, let’s bear
our cross
And me§t her in glory some day.
No chilling pain, nor poisonous
breath,
Can reach that healthful shore
Where sickness, sorrow, pain nor
death ,
Are felt and feared no more.
Could she speak I’m sure she’d
say:
“Oh, dear ones, do not weep,
“Think no more of me as dead,
“In Jesus I fell asleep.
“Only to wake in the glory land,
“Where sorow will ne’er more
come,
“Our tears will all be wiped away
“When we reach that heavenly
home.”
Let’s meet this one beyond the
blue—
Beyond the starry skies
Where partings ne’er will come
again,
And no more sad good-byes.
Respectfully submitted,
Mrs.C. W. Hitt,
Mrs. P. D. Castleberry.
Mrs. W. A. Blevins,
Committee.
Adjourn The
Legislature
Everyone is glad that the Leg¬
islature has made provision for
the old veterans, even though the
method selected forced the Gov¬
ernor to depart from his previous
position on the subject. An error
was made in the amount needed,
just bailed because the authors of the
bill to call on the State
Auditor for the figures available
in his office, but that will soon
be corrected, and as soon as this
is done we believe the best ser¬
vice the Legislature can do the
people of Georgia is to adjourn.
Up to date the session has cost
about $ 70,000 and from now on
it is going to resolve itself into
a veritable political convention
at the expense of the state—and
we do not believe that our peo¬
ple want to spend $ 3,000 a day
just to furnish “clover” for the
political bees that are buzzing in
th e Legislature these days.
The twenty-two points that the
Governor includes in his amend¬
ed call would keep the Legisla¬
ture in session indefinitely, if
tim e were taken for their intelli¬
gent and careful consideration.
We are sure we voice the sen¬
timents umenrs of oi Polk’s rums able aum Represen- -w. ,
tative Dr C W. Peek, in expres- wis-! j
sing the conviction that the
est thing the Legislature can do J
is to adjourn as soon as the pen-
sion bill is rectified, and we are
sure the Legislature would have
the hearty thanks of the people
if they would take this course
and give Georgia what she really
needs—adivorce from the mixing
of strictly business matters with
the aspirations of politicians in
a “political year.”— Cedartown
