DUE FOR A BUMP
The man who considers himself too big or too Important to
taka an interest in local affairs is seldom missed. He may ima
ginehe is traveling along above the rest of his townsmen, but
no one envies him or seeks the perch upon which he rests,
It is poor policy to run contry to the community spirit of
the hometown. This is something for our mutual protection
and and benefit, so all effort should be devoted to building it up.
not tearing it down or ignoring it.
By setting himself up as better and above the town, the
knoakar imperils his own fortune and opportunities. 1 So
as ha lives hare, ha must go along with Dade County, and
ha does not coma down a bit and be sensible, he is apt to
it.
Besides, the booster is ready to testify that one can enjoy
life Immensely by holding the right attitude toward the com¬
munity in which he lives.

Boundry Line
In Dispute
Atty.-Gen, Napier said this
week that it will be probably be
« >tne time before he can complete
the report Gov. Walker has called
for on the hour dry line dispute be¬
tween Georgia and Tennessee.
The area involved in the dispute
is a half a mile wide by 109 miles
long, and a further 6tudy of the
records today indicates that there
is more in the matter than has
appeared—not only from the Geor¬
gia but from the Tennessre side.
Though Gov, Walke 1, *• ou * °f
the city today. It is learned that
he is proceeding under a resolution
of the Georgia legislature approv¬
ed Aug. 16, 1922, instituted by
Representative Tatum of Dade
County. A part of the importance
of the transaetion is indicated in
a considerable file of correspond¬
ence between Gov. Walkers office
and the office of Gov. Peay, the
atto-ney-general of Tennessee and
others, dated through 1924, the
immediate impulse being the state¬
ment by B. W. Newson of Chat¬
tanooga that he has purchased
large land properties in Dade
county for the purpose of exten¬
sive developments and has found
in his financial negotioations that
all Dade and Walker county
properties, as well as properties in
Hamilton and Marion counties in
Tennessee, are looked upon by
financial agencies as “frozen as¬
sets” because of doubt the proper
boundry line, and for that reason
developments on any larga scale
cannot be carried forward io any
part of that territory.
