On the Sideline
Evolution, is it or isn’t it? I
sal on the sidelines and listen
-ed to the voice of modern
youth express their views on
the fundamentals of life and
evolution and seemed a thing 1
taken for granted just as were
the teachings of the Bible.
Do they believe in evolution?
Yes. How? There must. l>e
a beginning to human lifeiust
as there is to plant life. As the
oak grew from something
somewhere, so the human
could have grown from the
next and thing to it monkey. in appearance You j
nature—a |
ask if they don’t consider the
Bible an authority on creation
and existance, they will tell
you that they do, but just us
they accept any history, so j
they accept the Bible. There
was midevial history. Adam
and Eve came after that, so
what? They keep you guessing.
Of course they believe in Coil
the supreme, but I fear that
the God of our fathers is not
looked upon as essential to
them as it was to those who
knew naught of midevial his¬
tory or our originating from
monkeys. The question is, in
educating our children and of¬
fering them the wisdom of to¬
day have we not taught them
to rely too much on them¬
selves and look upon their ma¬
ker as a kind of figure-head,
to he revered but patronized.
The human soul without an
anchor is like a derliee ship at
sea, they are detrimental to
themselves and all who may
come their way. It is best to
grasp education with the hope
of climbing higher, but no
matter how much we learn,
how far we progress along the
way always we should remem¬
ber were bought by a price and
our lives are not our own. 1
believe in evolution, but not
from monkeys.
