Foot of the Cross
The great Saviour of the
world hung on Calvary’s cross
dying for our sins. His love for
the world was so great that
He cried, ‘Father, forgive them
they know not what they do.’
Vi ill we take our troubles to
the foot of the cross? Jesus
will help us bear them and
lighten our cross. He said,
“Call upon Me in the day of
trouble and I will answer thee.
My yoke is easy and my bur¬
den is light.”
In 91st Psalm, God speaks in
His Word. “He that dwelleth
in the secret place of the most
High, shall abide under the
shadow of the Almighty.”
He is our strong Rock and
our salvation. We may share
our sorrows and joys with the
Great Divine Friend of friends
Jesus Christ. He who never
forsakes us—will we just trust
Him? The best place for us to
come lor aid is at the foot of
the cross. —Eldie Volute.

INCORPORATED IN KENTUCKY
Old Mens Team
Stage Big Show
Perhaps a new set of rules
governoring the game of bas¬
ket ball will be introduced, as
a result of the Old Mens game
here Saturday night in which
the‘Fats’ won over the‘Slims’
8-4.
Practically every section of
the county was represented in
the game. No attempt was
made to referee the scrap, oth¬
er than just starting and keep¬
ing the ball in bounds. A large
crowd in wild excitement
watched the “has beens” run,
tackle, roll, crawl or whatever
it required to get the hall go¬
ing toward their goal. Capt.
Scruggs, C. M. Smith and J.C.
Christian were among the bril¬
liant for the winners and Ralph
Johns and Fleteh Allison were
two of the outstanding slims.
The game following the Old
Mens battle between Walker’s
Korner and Dade Farmers was
probably the best real game
yet played in the new gym.
The results of the 40 minutes
of flashy action was 26-25, in
favor of the Korners; with only
a foul shot in advance. Our
boys, we consider did not lose
the game but rather gave it a-
way; they having the game in
a sack more than a few times.
The Farmers had a long lead
of 10-1 at the close of the first
quarter.
We wouldn’t attempt to pick
a star from the Farmer boys,
as the whole team played top
notch hall.
The Farmers have two more
good games this week; 'Thurs¬
day night with Centenary
Church and with Highland
Park Saturday night.
Both games will be played in
the local gym and will be pre¬
ceded b^ preliminaries.
