MAKING
That is what is covered in our VTecUy
Sews Review feature each week,
it is an interpretation of the events
of each week that are making the
history of the nation and the world.
It is prepared b\ Edward W Pickard,
one of the highly trained newspa¬
per observers ot the nation, and
syndicated to a limited number of
newspapers in the different states.
It is the best feature of this character
that goes to American readers
from any source. You can make it
the foundation of your discus¬
sion of w orld events with friends.

Cancer Can he Cured
Cancer i> not a hopeless, in¬
curable disease and is not eon*
tagous or in itself heredinarv.
There are thousands of men
anti women in this country to¬
day who have been successfully
treated for cancer.
The great hope for cancer
patients lies in their having
treatment during thefirststag-
es of t he disease.
THE DANGER SIGN
External Cancer—Cancer on
the ou t si tie of t he body, which
ran be seen or fell, often begins
as a wart, mole, lump, st ab,
or sore. Cancer may develop
from an unhealed wound or an
irritated spot. If you have any
of these abnormal develop¬
ments, watch them. If they
change in appearance or size,
see a doctor at once! Do not
wait until they cause pain!
Pii inps in the breasts are esp¬
ecially suspicious,and should
be investigated without any
delay.
Internal Cancer—Cancer on
the inside of the body may
often be know n by signs before
any lump is seen or felt. In¬
creased or irregular tlischarge,
or return of flow after change
of life in women, and blood at
any time in the urine of .men,
are suspicious. Cancer of the
stomach and bowels is more
difficult to discover. Correct
chronic indigestion; do not
neglect rectal bleeding, pain,
or other symptoms of local
irritation.
If you have any of these
signs, see a doctor at once.
Remember that cancer is al¬
ways a local disease and con¬
fined to a small area at the be¬
ginning.
TREATMENT
In the early stages, surgery
is often able lo eliminate can¬
cer completely. X-Rav anti ra¬
dium treatments are of great
value with certain types of
cancer.
MEDICINES ARE USELESS
Remember that no medicine
has yet been proven to be a
cure for cancer. There is only
one way to gel rid of cancer it
must he destroyed. An opera¬
tion generally is the surest
way.
I ndcr no ciaeumstanee
should you go to a doctor who
advises a “cure” for cancer.
See your own family doctor, or
if you have none, the local hos
pita! or,the Health Department
can tell you how to secure an
examination and treatment.
FIND CANCER EARLY
Toe Vmerican Society for the
(.ontrol of (lancer believes that
much will be accomplished
when people realize that early
diagnosis and prompt treat-
men t.
\ thorough physical exam¬
ination made once a year liv
a physican is often a safeguard
against cancer.
It is important to see the
doctor if you have any persis-
tent ailment or irritation.

Appetizing Coffee
The coffee that you serve at
this breakfast should be of the
kind you can’t wait to taste—the
kind the aroma of which is so
tempting that you scald yourself
with the first sip. It’s easy to
have coffee like that now that
so many popular brands are put
up in vacuum packed cans. These
cans keep the coffee fresh until
they are opened, and freshness is
the principal thing—for fragrance,
taste and strength—in the making
of good coffee.
No oxygen can get to the coffee,
you see, if it is enclosed in vacu¬
um packed cans, and oxygen is
the chief enemy of coffee. When
exposed to it, the coffee gases
quickly evaporate, and much of
the taste and aroma is soon gone.*
