U.S. PUBLIC WORKS PROJECT NO. N.R.H. 31-B&E (1935)
COUNTY OF DADE
Sealed proposals will be received by the State Highway Board of
Georgia at the General Office at No. 2 Capitol Square, Atlanta, Ga.i
until *9:00 A M. Central Standard time Time, May 17th.
1935, for furnishing all labor, material, equipment a,.d other things
necessary for the construction of 2.725 miles of graded road and two
! bridges located in Dade County on what is locally krown as the Bir¬
mingham, Ala.,-Chattanooga, Tenn. read. Beginning at the Ala.
Ga. state line and ending .65 miles north and beginning at New
England and ending at Morganviile, otherwise known as U.S. Pub¬
lic Works Project No. N.R H. 31-B&E (1935) in Dade county, lhe

Said work shall begin within ten (10) days after formal execution
of contract and Cont No. 1 shall be completed within 170 working
days and Cont. No. 2 within 140 working days. The State Highway
Department snail in no way be bound or obligated by any bid or a-
ward until the execution of a formal written contract by the State
Highway Board. When such contract has been executed, written no¬
tice shall be given the Contractor; at which time and not before,
work may be commenced.
Contract executed pursuant to this Notice is binding on the State
Highway Department as such. Said contract will not create liability,
express or implied, against the undersigned members of the State
Highway Board, as individuals, either separately or collectively; nor
against any employee of the Stale Highway Board or the State High
way Department, in his or her individual capacity.
The minimum wage to be paid under thiscontract shall be 30 cents
pei hour for unskilled labor. 45 cents per hour for intermediate
grade labor and 75 cents per hour for skilled labor. The attention of
bidders is directed to the Special Provisions covering employment
of labor, methods of construction, subletting or assigning tne con¬
tract and to the use of Domestic Materials.
Plans and Specifications are on file at the office of the undersign¬
ed at Atlanta, and at East Point, Ga., and at the office of the Board
of County Commissioners oi Dade Connty at Trenton, Ga., where
they maybe inspected free of charge. Copies of the plaus may be
obtained upon payment inadvanci of the sum of $8.00 for Confract-
No. 1 and $1.00 for Contract No. 2. Copies of the General Speci¬
fications may be obtained upon payment in advance of the sum cf
$1.00, which sums will not be refunded.
Upon compliance with the requirements of the Standard Specifi¬
cations Ninety (90)% of amount of work done in any calendar month
will be paid for between the 10th and 15th day of the succeeding
month, provided that payrolls have been submitted as required, and
the remainder within thirty (30) days after final completinn and ac¬
ceptance. Proposals must be submitted on regular forms which will
be supplied by the undersigned, and must be accompanied by a cer¬
tified check, Cashier’s Check, or negotiable United States Bonds in
the amount of $2,000.00 for Cont. No. 1 and $1,000 00 for Cont, No.
2 and must be plainly marked "Proposal tor Road Construction"
County and Number, and show the time of opening as advertised.
Check of the low bidder will be cashed and ail other checks will be
returned as soon as the contract is awarded, unless it is deemed ad¬
visable by the State Highway Board to hole one or more checks. If
an unusual condition arises, the State Highway Board reserves the
right to cash all checks. Bidders Bond will not he accepted.
Bond will be required of the successful bidder as required by law.
The bond must be written by a licensed Georgia Agent in a Company
licensed to write Surety Bonds in the State of Georgia, and be ac
companied by a certificate from the Department of Industrial Rela¬
tions tnat the Contractor is complying with the Georgia vVorkmen’s
Compensation Act.
Contracts will not be awarded to contractors who have not been
placed on the list of qualified Contractors prior to the date of award.
No proposals will be issued to any bidder later than 3 PM Central
Standard Time of the day prior to the date of opening bids.
Every Contractor applying for proposals must submit at the same
time, on a form which will be supplied by the undersigned, a state¬
ment of his contracts on hand.

Notice of Bond Election
To the qualified voters in the fterritory hereinafter
described, and known a? the Rising Fawn Consoli¬
dated Sch jol District, of Dade County, Georgia:-
More than one-fourth of the qualified voters of said School
District having filed a petition with the undersigned Trus¬
tees, asking that an election be called for the purpose of sub •
mitting to the qualified legal voters of said School District the
question of voting on Eighteen Thjusand Dollars ($18,000.
00) School Bonds in said District;
Notice is hereby given that on the 15th day of May, 1935,
an election will be held in and for said Consolidated School
District, at the Rising Fawn School House, in said District,
at which election will be submitted to the qualified voters of
said District for their determination the question whether or
not Bonds shall be issued by said Consolidated School Dis¬
trict in the aggregate amount of Eighteen Thousand ($18,000.
00) for the purpose of building and equipping a school house
at Rising Fawn, Georgia, in said Consolidated School District;
the said bonds to bear date of July 1st, 1935, to bear interest
at the rate of five percent. (5%) per annum, payable »emi-
annually thereafter from date on the first day of January,
1936, and semi-annually thereafter on the first day of Janu¬
ary and July of each year; the said bends to be in denomi¬
nations of Six Hundred Dollars ($600.00) each and the prin¬
cipal thereof to be paid as follow?: Six Hundred Dollars
($600.00) on the first day of January, 1936, and Six Hundred
Dollars ($600.00 on the first dav of January of each year
thereafter, up to and including the year 1965. The principal
and interest to be paid by the levy and collection of an an¬
nual tax on all the taxable property of said Consolidated
School District sufficient to pay both principal and interest,
as above set out, and as provided by law. The principal and
interest to be payable in Lawful Money of the United States,
at such bank as may be hereinafter agreed upon between the
purchasers of said Bonds and the undersigned.
Said election will held at the Rising Fawn School House in
said Consolidated School District, and shall be held under the
same rules and regulations as govetn elections for State House
Officers, and the returns of said election shall be made to the
undersigned Trustees, who shall declare the results.
The boundaries of said Consolidated School District being
as follows:
"Beginning at the Southwest corner of Lot of Land
No. 27, in the 18th District and 4th Section of Dade County,
Georgia, and running East on the South boundary line of stid
Lots 27, 26 and 25to the Southeast corner of Lot 25; thence
South on the East boundary line of Lot No. 32 to the South¬
east corner of said Lot; thence East on the South Itne of Lota
33, 34 and 35 in said District and Section, to the District line;
thence on East, to West brow of Lookout Mountain, and em¬
bracing all territory in Dade County South of the above de-
scribed line, King between the West brow of Lookout Moun¬
tain and the East brow of Sand Mountain, and extending to
the Georgia-Alabama State Line.
Those favoring the issuing of said Bonds shall have written
or printed on their tickets or ballots “For School House
Bonds”; those opposed shall have written or printed on their
tickets or ballots "Against School House Bonds”.
This the 10th day of April, 1935.

A Certificate of Compliance on the prescribed form which will be
furnished for that purpose, shall be signed and submitted by all bid.

President on March 14th, 1934. Only bids accompanied by such cer¬
tificate shall be considered or accepted. The Contractor to whom
award is made shall require sub-contractors and dealers furnishing
equipment, materials and supplies to sign similar certificates before
making awards to or purchases from such sub-contractors or dealers,
copies of which shall be furnished to the contracting officer.
