But Georgia's Future Progress
Faces a Lsadly Threat
Electrically, Georgia is makii g more rap'd progress than any other
state. It has been a leader for years, and it continues to move ahead.
THE PROGRESS
Georgia is FIRST among d' ps eat of
the Rocky Mountains in use o’: clcc'.ti. '/ in
the home.
Homes served by the Geor- r C n-
pany use 1/2 times a m 1 :
average Ait jrican Home :,.v.
Georgia is cheap and bee . :.di ot
.
service is unsurpassed anywhere in the v r’J.
Homes served by the C gii Pov. r ( om-
pany pay 25 per cent LEI - than the national
average price for the electrhaiy tl. y use.
Because it is cheap, becau it is serving a
long'felt need, small towns in Geov. it •
tricity in abundance. Horn ' in L ;nva
for instance, use 2/z times as much electricity
as the average American Iv me!
150 other cities and towns in Georgia are well
ahead of the national average.
211 Georgia towns which have no city water-
works — 275 Georgia towns which are not
equipped with city sewer systems — are pro¬
vided by the Georgia Power Company with
cfty-quality electric service and they pay city-
cheap rates for it.
In fact, small Georgia towns and farm homes
pay exactly the same low rates a th ' cities pay
— a condition now advocated as iAbut sel¬
dom elsewhere realized.
That’s Georgia's electrical situation now —
and it’s improving every day.
It will continue to improve. Go >rgia will con¬
tinue to move ahead — unless the methods that
brought about this progress are disrupted.
Georgia is moving ahead— let's keep her marching on!
Iff ycu want to prevent the destruction and damage

sentatives in Congress to oppose this kill.

the Dm&zn

: !■ 1 - the -xisvng system of
n •vatc o;vi 1 p of the electric business,
<:■ . fat 1 0.’ the business by the State, and
(-’) .arming of the business through a holding
con.- ny.
t: Whe: ler-r.iyburn Public Utility Bill now
bafo: Congress proposes to tear down all of
that.
It abolishes holding companies and takes
aw ■ f. .1 us the financial support which has
cn red us to extc::d electric service to the
little towns and farms in recent years.
It sets up fe ’. ral regulation of this Company
on t p of tl State regulation, and that would
mean the death of State regulation.
It take ti e r. anagement of this Company out
of t! f the men and women who have
given Georgia its high standing electrically —
and turns it over to Washington bureaucrats,
600 or 700 miles away.
The Ui'e note, carefully concealed purpose ©f
it all is to overthrow the entire present system,
which has demonstrated its worth and benefit
to the people of Georgia, and substitute an ex-
pt rim ut n Socialism in its place — government
ownership in place of private ownership.
Georgia has everything to lose and nothing
to gain from the passage of this bill.
It strikes at the very heart of all that has been
accomplished in the past; it is a deadly threat to
the future progress that otherwise surely will
come.

In practically every State in the
Union there are patrons of the Hamilton
National. A great many of them were
former residents of Chattanooga. They
became familiar with the type of serv¬
ice this Bank rendered. The fact that
they liked it is attested by their con¬

Our “Banking By Mail” plan has
made it possible for these patrons to con¬
tinue to enjoy the benefits which a con¬
