THESE MEN ARE AT HEAD OF WORK CAMP ON LOOKOUT
And, speaking of road building, pictured above are the warden
and two foremen of the State Highway Work Camp located on
Lookout Mountain. The picture was made just below where the
Trenton-LaFayette highway goes through the 60-foot gap that was
blasted through solid rock to muke the “Door to Dade”. The 117
prisoners at the camp are working on the Trenton-LaFayette and
scenic Highways. Left to right are: J. H. George, drill foreman;
C. A. Jacobson, warden, and J. W Payne foreman.
ROCKIN’ AN’ ROLLIN’
ya’ ever see a air show?
Ceaser’s ghost!
the grandest show of all.
wuz there by th’ host!
div an’ rolled an’ rocked,
a feather in the wind;
that blitz hickey, ya’ know,
raised an awful din!
seemed most real, I vow,
shootin’, burnin’ an’ sich;
\n’ th’ lonesome guy with a dead
motor,
almost missed th’ pitch!
ther wuz the racers,
their pants on th’ fly;
th’ great big buzzard,
a motor, my oh my! ,
ye know they jumped,
fell er something, ow!
great white things held
them up,
That’s a miracle, an’ how!
whole thing was wonderful,
takes brains to do it all;
thing they call science,
Sunday is our regular church
Let everyone come out.
