One of these men stated that
he was thoroughly capable of
paying the new proposed rates
—even double the proposed
rates, but he would never vote
in favor of the system unless
some compromise could be
worked out to relieve some of
the burden which will be cast
upon the mass of Trenton citi¬
zens now using its system.
Another drove to Atlanta in
the interest of locating a new
pump. He paid his own expen¬
ses.
Many of them have worked
into the night on several recent
occasions, without pay.
All these men are interested
in is a capable water system for
Trenton. They favor a county¬
wide system, but they are not
willing to sacrifice the welfare
of Trenton for the benefit of
Dade County.
These men are willing to ne¬
gotiate. But they are not willing
to buy an iron-clad, inflexible
proposal.
We feel these men are due a
vote of thanks, not just for
their tireless devotion to city
business, but their safe-guard¬
ing stubbomess in Insisiting on
compromise.
From the way It stacks up,
the burlen is on the authority,
not the city.
