Christmas Seal Day
Proclaimed by Governor
Monday, Nov, 16 was the open¬
ing date for the annual sale of
^Tuberculosis Christmas Seals
The day was proclaimed
CHRISTMAS SEAL DAY by
Governor Vandiver.
Governor Vandiver said TB
continues a serious threat to the
health of Georgia’s citizens. TB
struck 1,700 Georgians in 1958.
TB killed 287 other Georgians.
Last year the Seal campaign
'for the state was $339,331.00.
This is the second highest figure
in Georgia’s Christmas Seal
history.
Niney-four per cent of all
money raised in the Seal Sale in
Georgia remains here. The re¬
maining 6 per cent support the
National Association. The
money remaning in Georgia
pays for programs of health
education in the sphools and
before civic and other groups.
It helps pay for the finding of
TB cases, for rehabilitation and
for emergency patient aid.
