The Gem in Georgia's Crown VOL. 59—No. 50 •V- ’ l ** V ft- hat, indeed, is this holiday, that we rush and tear about, decorating trees and mantelpieces, giving gifts and gathering about the festive board? What, indeed, is this holiday that we must deck the halls with boughs of holly and dangle mistletoe from the chandelier? In the midst of the trappings and traditions that we have gathered for generations, what can we say about the Christmas t " * > i Christmas is more than an occasion; it is more than an anniversary; and much more than a mere holiday. Christmas is because of CHRIST... be¬ cause He was born, because He is. “For on this day is born unto the world a Sav¬ iour” ... What more to be said about Christmas than that we must be reminded that CHRIST was born, that He is with us, always, the Hope and the Light, the Promise and the Fulfillment. Every man must fulfill the meaning of Christ- ■ mas within his own heart Our customs, decora¬ tions, gift giving—everything else associated with Christmas is imitation, an idle echo, if we do not recognize and accept that Christmas is with us because Christ is with us... always.
