The actual cash in state treasury is
$1,138,000. With a probability of in
creoaing this amount $2,260,000 by fall
—making $3,398,000 in all for the year
—we think to be able to
meet all existing appropriations.
Mr. Jake Moore, employed by the

tondition of convict camps. Mr. Moore
hae proven te be a worthy and efficient

X terrible colliiion between a New York

With all the coal and iron that any sec

From evidence at hand railroads in gen
eral throughout the country are in a very
prosperous condition. If corporations are
prosperous and successful it follows right
on that somebody else will be, and that
somebody else is the laborer. The South
ern Pacific company paid out something
like $50,000,000 in one year to employees.
It is a broad mistake to thinK that railroads
are not a help to the poor, laboring class of
people since without them whole nations
would go undeveloped and it would be al
most an impossibility for man to inhabit
many portions of the earth. What citizen
ifa toiscountry cannot point with priue io
the statistics showing that the United
States is the greatest and most extensive
railway country on the face of the globe?
