will long look in vain for his equal in point
of popularity and influence.
In recent speeches before the Demoeratip
club in New York City, Griggs of Georgia
and Hill of New Tork made eloquent
speeches to that body for harmony in the
party. Since the eis a growing dissension
on some important questions in the Demo
cratic party, it will likely be quite a task
to unite the “wings” and more Hills’ and
Mriggs will probably be pressed into ser
vice.
On one of the principal streets of Chatt
anooga an officer, in citizens clothing, shot
and killed a business man last Sunday.
The verdict of the C iroaer’s jury was that
the murdered man came to his death in the
absence of provocation and “without cause ”
