I fully intended to be governor of the grea 1
I Empire State of the South. Estiil, while
defeated in the state by Terrell, is none the
less worthy for the place and is none the
less popular for his having ‘missed the
mark’ at this time. J. M. Terrell will
make a good governor and the state will in
all probability, be satisfied with him. 'The
splendid vote accorded Estiil as is shown
by the figures fully warrants the press of
the entire country in predicting a success
ful campaign for this worthy, competent
and excellent gentleman at another time.
If ever perfect political harmony reign
ed in a county, from all signs and evidence
at hand, that county is Dade. Probably,
never in the history of the county could
more honest voters be found who are seek
ing the man instead of the name, to fill it’s
offices. They are turning more attention
to competency and fitness for the position
instead of hording up platforms and prom
ises. The good, intelligent voter of Dade
county wiil no longer let prejudice and
partisanism serve as leaders in his selection
of men for office; he no longer cares for
empty pledges and political deceit. There
is only one organized party in Dade and
that party in perfect harmony when it
comes to selecting county officers, will see
to it that good men are honored at the
polls. Brother voter, in our little com
monwealth, we want to congratulate you
on your having found a platform whose
planks arc justice, honesty, competency
and last but not least good will to all men
iij the right of suffrage as pertains to local
county politics. And we want to say that
the man who occupies such a platform, in
all probability, will be the man, who, when
offices are to be filled, will find hearty sup
port at the polls where the honest voter
trill call to cast his ballot for the candidate
whom he considers “The right man for
the right place.”
