Not much of an indication of a

unanimous in the declaration that
their business was never better.
Farmers are our bulwark. So
says Henry Clews. True, they are,

Judge Hart on Pensions.
At the request of Pension Com
missioner John W. Lindsey, At -
torney-Generai John C. Hart has
delivered to him an opinion on the
subject of paving a pension to
widow of a Confederate soldier.
In this he has held that a woman
who was a wife to a Confederate
soldier for any length of time dur
ing which he was serving iu the
wTI provided he had served six
months, to become entitled to be
ing called a Confederate .soldier
was entitled to a pension when she
became old and indigent.
This question was raised ju pon
an application which was made for
a pension in which it was stated
that the wife had been married'
' f '• •
only a short time before the war
closed.
Hart held that the length
of marriage bad nothing to do with
the pension, provided the jservice
of tha soldier husband had been
for a duration of six months to en
title him to a pension and hie wife
witß married to him while h^-wa 1 -
in service to entitle her to a pen
sion after his death.
This ruling will cover a number
of pending applications.—Atl .nt
