Rising Fawn has the best church choir in the county. W. H. P. T*tum, of Kensington, spent a few days in town last week. Miss Hal lie Pope, of Wildwood, is visiting friends in Trenton tnis week. The family of Mr. Greene Willis is visiting Mr. I. Y. Willis this week. Why should not Dade county get up a young mens Democratic club? 11. V. Taylor, who has been very sick at his home in N*w England is recovering. Rev. Thieadgill preached a very able sermon at Ru ing Fawn feou* day night Bob Taluni left for Bridgeport, Ala., to clerk in the store of Hamuiel Bros. Col. R. M. Paris, of Wild woo a, was in town Tuesday and says the News is the best paper ever published in Dade. A verv rare communication from Rising Fawn this week is not pub lished from the fact that the writ er failed to send up his real name. A certain person says “its strange people don’t know their own chick- I ens untill a neighbor gets after Ins other neighbors fowl.” Pearce Meadows, who removed from Dade to White County, r i enn., last January, is back on a visit to' his old friends this weeek. It is rumored that our old friend Charley Mayo, who U :,f l stood t.e lemptations*of the wiley sex tor lo these sixty years, has at last suc cumbed to inevitable fate. The protracted meeting at Byrd’s Chapel closed last Sunday by tak ing in several members to the churth. It was a remarkable meet ing in every respect. Alas, it was starch, and the young man has been too stiff to walk since. PRESERVED! A Chicken Six Years in a Wei!! . i Last Friday Jeff Stokes was cleaning out an old well for Geo. Fulgum, who resides near Mor ganvilie. After reaching a depth of about ten or twelve feet Mr. Stokes was surprised to t nd a chicken in a remarkable state of preservation. Six years ago the well caved :n upon the chicken, but time had not unfitted it for the table, if appearances count lor any thing.'The feathers were unruf fled and the meat looked as fresh as if it had only been killed.
