GRAND JURY,
Presentments.
Georgia, Dade Cos.
We, the Grand Jurors chosen
and sworn at the September term,
S u : court, 1891, for said
c Dimty, respectfully submit the
following general presentments:
The following committee was ap
pointed to inspect the convict
camps of the county: John A.
Moreland, John F, Acuff and Rout
Carter from the Grand Jury, aud
George Castleberry, Luke Frizzell
and Joseph V. Stewart and other
citizens, and the report of this
committee to our body was receiv
ed and made a part of our general
presentments, and that report is
hereto attached.
We find that there have been
material improvements made on
the public roads of the county, and
with few exceptions are in much
better conditions than heretofore.
We find that in district number
1222 the road from upper Coal
City to lower Coal City is in bad
condition. We find that in dis
trict number 1129 that the loads
from the Morris ford north has
been made too narrow by fences
built too near the road.
Wo find that iu district number
1037 some of the railroad crossings
of the A. G. S. R. R. are bad. We
recommend that the road commis
sioner in the districts named take
steps to liavejthe roads here men
tioned in their respective districts
putin condition the law demands.
We find that some repairs are
needed about the doors and ineide
walls ot the jail cells, and we re
commend that the Ordinary
have the needed repairs made.
Our committee to examine dock
ets if Justice of the Peace report
them correctly kept.
W@ recce m mend that William
H. Killian be appointed Notary
public as his own successor, to till
vacancy in Dist. No. 1222.
The report of the committee ap
pointed at March term, 1891, to
examine county records was re
ceived and adopted and made a
part of o,r general presentments,
and the same is hereto attached.
We recommend [that the Ordi
nary have levied for road purposes
1 lie same rate of tax as that of last
year, ten cents on the hundred dol
lars.
\Ve find that the tax collector
has not paid in all money collect
ed by him for taxes for 1890, and
we recommend that the Ordinary
require the tax collector to make
settlement as soon as the same
can be done.
A. D. Stephens is appointed
chaplain of the convict camps of
the county.
The following committee is ap
pointed to inspect the public rec
*nrd* of the county officers and re
port to Grand Jury at March term,
1892' Peter Forester, A. M. Ta
turn, J. S. Allison.
M.A. B. Tatum is appointed a
member of the county schorl
hoard to fill the vacancy of B. F.
Pace.
We recommend that the account
of .1. A. Bennett, Ordinary, tor ex
tra services amounting to thirty
dollars, be allowed, and that' the
.same be paid by the county. The
account is hereto attached.
We recommend that these gen
eral presentments be published in
the State Of Dads News, and
that lire dollars be paid tor same.
W : extend to Col. A. W. File,
5.,1. ften’l, our thanks for courses
and assistance rendered our body.
W J also offer t> Judge 1 hos. \\ .
ildow our appreciation of his

Jurors
Georgia, Dade County.
To the Grand Jury, Sept. Term
1891. —We, 'he committee select al
by the Grand Jury at the March
term, 1891, of the Superior court 10
examine the records of the Ordi
nary, clerk of the Superior court
and County Treasurer, submit the
lollowing report:
We first examined the records of
the Clerk of, the Superior Court,
and find them kept as required by
law, properly indexed.
We find that the clerk has pre
pared a numerical index for deed
records in compliance with rec
ommendation of last Grand Jurv.!
We then examined the various j
records and dockets in the Ordi-I
nary’s office and find them in good
condition, neatly and correctly!
kept as required by law, and in
connection with the Ordinary’s
order record we examined the
Treasurers’ records and found
them kept in strict compliance
with the law.
We think the conditions of the
offices and records reflects credtt
upon these officers.
From our examination of the
Treasurers office and hooks we find
the following to be the financial
status of the county, to-wit:
Cash on hand at last report, $5,280.66
Received since last report, 694.00
Total, $22,60.99
We find that he has paid out on
paper voucurhs $3,813 69; balance
on band 4 Sept. 17th. $2,260.99, all
of which is respectfully submitted.
This, Sept. 18th, 1891.
