The grand jury finished their work ou Wednesday. Tuesday was pay day at the Rising Fawn Furnace. A drunken official is a disgrace to any county or state. Our readers must pardon the shortcomings of our two last issues ab our attendance at court has in terfered with our newspaper work, The jury returned a verdict of guilty with a recommendation to mercy, in <he case of the state against John Rutherford for the killing of Pat Rowland. An infant of John White -died at Rising Fawn*this week with what the doctors term rn unmistakable case of diptheria. Much excite ment prevails. The presentments of the grand jury published in this issue should be of interest to every citizen of the county and should be perused wi h care. He is a young man serving his second term , who has taken an active pait in developing the mineral and agricultural in terests of Georgia and matters of general interest to the people. He seldom speaks but wnen he does his remarks are to the point. His judgement on matters of general interest to the state while in the legislature has been commented on l>y the press of the state more than any young man in tire house.
