At the beginning of last Winter I was on a trip to the City of Vicksburg, Miss.,where I got well drenched in a shower of rain. I went home and was soon after seized w r ith a dry, hacking cough. This grew worse every day, until I had to seek relief. I consulted Dr. Dixon who has since died, and he told me to get a bottle of Boschee's German Syrup. Meantime my cough grew worse and worse and then the Grippe came along and I caught that also very severely. My condition then compelled me to do something. I got two bottles of German Syrup. I began using them, and before taking much of the second bottle, I was entirely clear of the Cough that had bung to me so long, the Grippe, and all its bad effects. I felt tip-top and have felt that way ever since.” Peter J.Briaes, Jr., Cayuga, Hines Cos., Miss. @ THE SMALLEST PILL IN THE WORLD! A Boston, Mass., dispatch says: Four thousand people packed Tremont tempie, and overflowed into Park street church and Brumfield street church near by, Friday morning when tho monster world’s convention of the national Woman’s Christian Temperance Union was called to order. Three thousand delegates from every state and territory were | recant. 'I he hall was elaborately decorated. Miss Willard called the con vention to order, and made an impas sioned address. The treasurer’s report showed the ri eeipts to be $25,259; ex penditures, $23 217; membership, 153,- 402—a gain of 10,369. Miss Willard, in her address, said: So the good work goes on. New territory is preempted, and woman’s mighty realm of philanthropy encroaches each day upon the empire of sin, disease and misery that has so long existed—that we thought must endure forever. But there remains immense territory to be possessed. 'lhe chinch itself must have anew cru sade. It must become the people’s home. Its doors of gospel grace must stand open nfiht and day. It must not be a huge locked up cube of masonry, with a dead atmosphere during six days of the week, f-r such cannot be the twentieth century exponents of the church of Him who went about doing good. We must draw the people to the church by having some thing there for them which will lead them up through material perception and love of spiritual blessings. We nailed tha l banner to the masthead in 1884,and, sink or swim, five or die, survive or per ish, we will keep it wavi g. Miss Willard then dwelt at length upun scientific temperance instruction, temperance lileratuie, medal contests, the temp ranee press, the labor question, evangelistic work, work among police men, Sabbath observance, social purity, m rr age and divorce, puiityin literature and ari, the woman’s temperance temple and rational temperance hospital—in stitutions all de?.r to the heart of the white ribboner. She was followed by L dy Henry Somerset, who made a brief address. The rest of the day was taken up in reports and singing. GEORGIA’S POPULATION. Tlie Census Bureau’s Latest Bulletin in Detail.
