Quick Justice.
| Last Sunday out on Sand moun
| tain, Clark Thomas engaged in the
business of a dealer in whiskey
without first procuring a license.
Wednesday a warrant was sworn
ouf, which was executed before
midnight and today Clark was sen
tenced by Judge Jacoway of ike
County Couittopay a fine or in
default thereof to suffer a six
months chain <*ang sentence.
To Save Her Child.
From frightful disfigurement
Mrs. Nannie Galleger, ol LaGrange
Ga., applied Bucklen's* Arnica
Salve to great sores on her head
and face, and writes its quick cure
exceeded all her hopes. It works
wonders in Bores, Skin
Eruptions. Cuts, Burns. Scalds
and Piles. 25c Cure guaranteed by
IS. A. Jackson druggist.
TWO BURGLARIES.
While Trenton was wrapped in
slumber Wednesday night, bur
glars stole into the town and bur
glarized two residents.
Mi. J. P. Jacoway’s residence
was ransacked in almost every
room without waking any member
of the family.
All that was taken was the wear
ing apparel, including shoes which
Mr. Jacovvay had taken off at night
and after helping themselves .or
himself to the eatables left upon
the dining table the burglars qui
etly left.
About 4 o’clock yesterday morn
ing a lady visitor at the home of
Mr. Wm. Bates was awakened by
seeing a man just in tho act of
making his escape through a win
dow.
While her screams aroused and j
startled the other four ladies in j
the house, all ot whom began
screaming as only a frightened
lady can, the burglais, who doubt
less ascertained that no m:tD was
in the house, very calmly lowered
the window behind him and walk
ed off.
Only a $5 hat of Will Bates’, Jr.
was missing.
Yesterday morning a convict’s
leather bolt, a pair of old shoes
and some papers were found upon
the railroad north of town, indica
ting the point at which Mr. Con
vict had performed the disrobing
act.
Watches and other jewelry were
apparently exposed to the view ot
the burglars at both houses, yet
nothing of the kind was taken*
Astounded the Editor.
Editor S. A. Brown, of Bennetts
ville, S. €., was once
surprised* “Through long suffer
ing from Dyspepsia,’’ he writes,
“my wife was greatly run down.
•She had no strength or vigor and
suffered gieat distress from her
stomach, but she tried Electric
Bitters which helped her at once,
and after using four bottles, she is
entirely well, can eat anything. Its
a grand tonic, and its gentle laxa
tive qualities aie splendid for tor
pid liver.” For indigestion. Loss
of Appetite, Stomach and Liyer
troubles it’s a positive, guaranteed
cure. Only 50c at 8. A. Jacksons
drug store.
“LAND OF THE SKY.”
In Western North Carolina, be
tween the Blue Ridge on the east
and the Alleghanies on the west,
in the beautiful valley of the
French Broad, two thousand feet
above the sea., lies Ashville, beau
tiful, picturesque and world-famed
as one of the most pleasant resort
in America. It is a land of bright
skies and incomparable climate,
whose praises have been sung by
poets, and whose beauties of stream
valley and mountain height have
furnished subject and inspiration
for the painters brush. This is
truly the “Land of the Sky,” and
there is perhaps, no more beauti
ful region on the continent to at
tract pleasure, tourists or health
seekers. Convenient schedules
and very' low rates to Ashville via
Southern Railway.
ET TU RISING FAWN.
Not to ba outdone by Trenton
Rising Fawn also left open her
doors to the burglars last night,
The residences of Messrs. Jock
Forester and James Hall
were burglarized last night in pretty
much the same manner as was
done here the night before. There
as here, only clothing and the in
cidentals in the pockets were taken.

What A Tale it Tells.
If that mirror of yours shows a
wretched, sallow complexion, a
jaundiced look, moth patches and
blotches on the skin, it’s liver t rou
ble; but Dr. Kings’s New Life Pills
regulate the liver, purify the
blood, give clear skin, rosy cheeks,
rich complexion. Only 25c at S.
A. Jackson’s drug store.
THREE MORE
CONVICTS ESCAPE.
Last Tuesday afternoon just
before dar\; as the Cole City con
victs were being brought into the
camp from the mines three negroes
including the famous Bob Arm
strong made a dash for liberty. It
was a great surprise to the twelve
guards, as they supposed all the
men were shackled to the one com
mon chain.
Quickly recovering from the
surprise some of tho guards fired
at the feeing convicts who had re
fused to halt. All three made
good their escape as the darkness
prevented the men following the
blood hounds, which were quickly
put upon trail.
One of the convicts had been hit
by some of the guards and was re
captured yesterday by a section
foreman on tho Nashville road.
The negroe, Wes Austin died of
his wounds however, before reach
ing camp.
Nothing has boon heard of the
two others unless it was the fine
Italian hand of Bob Armstrong
that engineered the two burglaries
in this to,vu Wednesday night.
