COt NTV HIGH SCHOOL.
Only a few people in Dade coun
ty are able to send their children
off to college. Many > ould he glad
to educate their children in high
school branches at least, if the op
portunity offered. Imagine a first
class high school located i.i Dade
county. Many would move their
families here in order to educate
their children. In almost every
free school in Dade county there
are pupils being taught m studies
above common school branches.
This detracts trern the success of
the common schools. Suppose a
high school located, say at Tren
ton, running ten months in the
year and all the common schools
graded to it and acting as feeders
to it would it not thrive and pros
per? Dade county could well af
ford to maintain such a school.
We help maintain our stale uni
versity and various branches ’.here
of for which we get very little re
turn. While some parents con
tent themselves with a five months
common school [less pea picking
time, etc. ] that class are vastly in
the minority and God pity all ol
them. We want inure than a
“readin’, 'riten’and figurin'ed
ucation for the children of Dade.
