A Prominent Physician.
A prominent New York physician
in discussing the merits of Ripans
Tabules with a brother M. D. said:
" Several years ago I asserted that
if one wished to become a philan
thopist, and do a beneficent deed
one that would help the whole hu
man race-nothing could be better
than to procure the Roosevelt Hos
pital prescription, which is the basis
f tht Ripans Tabules, and cause it to
be put up in the form of a ketchup
ana distributed among the poor.

A reporter who went there to learn
how Ripans Tab

bought a five-cent
carton and asked:
“Do you hare
much call for
these?”
He was referred
to a gentleman who
proved to be tho
head of the depart
ment. He said:
*• The sale of Ripans Tabules Is
constant and is increasing, due
especially to the influ sutial character
of the testimonials in the daily presu,
and growing out of these, through
the recommendation of friend to
friend. Satisfaction with them is
very general. When once they are
begun 1 notice th t a permanent
customer for them 1j made. This, 1
believe, is through their intrinsic
merit, which proves tho bona fide
character of the advertising. I think
them specially useful in the general
run of stomach troubles.”

An Elderly Lady.
An elderly lady living at Fordham
Heights, a part of New York City,
and who was known to be a warm
advocate of Ripans Tabules for any
case of liver trouble or indigestion,
said to a reporter who visited her for
tho purpose of learning the particu
lars of her case: “I had always
employ ed a physician and did so on
the last occaoion I had for one, but
at that time obtained no beneficial
results. I had never had any faith
In patent medicines, but having seen
Ripans Tabules recommended very
highly in the New York Herald con
cluded to give them a trial, and
found they were just what my case
demanded. I have never employed
a physician since, and that means a

objected to their mother giving a
testimonial which should parade her
name in the newspapers, but to do
this the older lady argued : '* There
may' be other cases just like mine,
and I am sure I take great pleasure
in recommending the Tabules to any
one afflicted ns I was. If the telling
about my case in the papers enables
some other person similarly affected
to be as greatly benefited as I have
been. I see no objection.” Tho daugh
ters, knowing how earnestly she felt
about tlie benefit she had received,
decided she was quite right.

Having purchased the “Stateof
Dade News,” outfit from the for
mer well known editor, Hon. B.
T. Brock, who has successfully
managed said paper for a number
of years, we desire to state to the
people of Dade county , and others
who have been subscribers and
supporters of the State of Dade
News, in the past, that we shall
attempt to co tinue the publica
tion of the paper at the present
site in the interest of all who may
be interested in their home paper,
While this paper is well establish
ed, extensively known, liberally
patronized, being a success past
and present, we implore the pub
lic, ever lenient and compromis
ing, to Dardon us if we humbly
suggest that we shall attempt to
give then a better paper, in many
respects, in the future, than they
have had in the past.
Our predecessor, Hon. Ben I'.
Brock bus, as is well known in
Dade county and elsewhere, stead
ily climbed in the practice of his
profession until he has quite as
much business as he can manage.
Hb has also fitted!}’ been called to
the .esponsible and honorable po
sition of representing his native
county in the Legislative Halls of
the State, which place he has been
eminently successful in filling for
a year.
In view of the fact that he. ( Mr.
Brock,) has all his time taken
otherwise, itjwould seem somewhat
absurd fot our people to still fur
ther presume upon his services in
the relation which he has sus
tained so successfully with regard
to our home paper.
We expect to make some chang
es in the paper about the first of
November next. We expect to
give tbe news of the entire county
by means of direct communica
. - ;V U\
lions trom the various .owns and
postofiicbs throughout her domain.
We expect further to 7 bd able to
print an ar.iMe from each of sev
eral points outside the county,
f:om time to time, which will, we
feel sutv, be of interest to our
populace.
We shall also, as has been the
case in I lie pa-t, continue to give
ilii general stale and national
news.
At the present time we aie calcu
lating on printing a seven column
paper instead of ;i six column as
in the 'i bn* will enable us
to give tour columns of reading
matter additional,, whicit we con
fidently hope will not fail to merit
the appreciat ion of our clover and
.ever appreciative people.
Mr. W. A. D. O’Neal, so popu
larly known in his administration
as publisher of the State of Dade
News has been retained and will
continue to print the paper.
We wish to bay in conclusion
that we Hhall spare no pains, no
effort, no time in our bumble at
tempt to put before the people of
Dade county that which they may
reasonably expect to see in perus
ing the columns of an humble
county paper.
We appeal to the suj port ot ev
ery citizen in the county, in this
undertaking and we have at least
a vague hope of being able to hon
estly claim the help and influence
in the behalf of the paper.
