Washisgtox, August 5.???The Evening Star to-night announce* that the report that Post master General Gresham is soon to he ap pointed Uni tod States circuit judge to succeed Judge Drummond, and that First Assistant Hatton is to succeed Gresham os head of the postoHicc department, is revived, with the ad dition that Chief Clerk Walker is to succeed Hatton as first assistant. When tho matter was mentioned to Hatton by the Star repor ter, he ssid ho knew nothing about it, and that he Was not worrying himself about the department. He said he would not ???turn hit hand over" to remain in-the department; that he had about ???had enough of it." Gresham dismissed the matter by saying that ha knew nothing of it. An inti malo friend of Gresham from Indiana said to tho reporter to-day: ???I have not talked with him on the subject for sonic weeks, and therefore don't know his mind now, but, unless he has changed his mind, I am satisfied ho would not accept the circuit judgeship.
