Austin Hooper, of Jackson county, who lived on

known. He Is charged with outraging his 15
year-old step daughter. A warrant was issued for

Thu citizens of Oliver, a village* on tbo Central

day. A gang of negroes were put to
work Saturday repairing the damage
and filling in tho washout with
earth from n sort of bluff further up the crook.
As they were carting the earth Ju wheelbarrows
from the bluff the coin and oilier articles wero
found where they hod been dug up. Tno discov
ery excited tbe negroes to begin a search I11 tho
mound or bluff from which tho earth had bean
taken. H was not kuown what other articles
found, as the negroes attempted to keep their dis
covery secret, fearing that tho money would bo
taken from them. Thu mound is supposed to bo
the grave of some Indian chief, who was buried
there by his tribe. Tlio pottery and Uinta had
the appcaranco of being some sort of utensils.
The discovery leaked out among tho cltl-
sens of Oliver Saturday night, and on Bun-
day a crowd was digging and sounding all along
the creek In the hope of finding further relics and
tprhap* burled treasure. It is believed by many
that the site is that 0/an old Jnd-an bury lug
ground, and that as tho Indiana were burled their
treasure was buried In their grave* with them
Tho sliver waa in an excellent stato of preserva
tion. Oil one aide of tho dollars ws* the inscrip
tion "Carolus fill, I>el Gratia," with a head and
bust and the date 17D0. On the reverse aldo is the

with the Bpanlah coat of arms, representing tho
pillars of Hercules supporting a crown, and across
the pillars the words, "Plus Ultra."

the effect of drinking too much water. Uowa*

The next store was occupied by W. M. Roblmson

Organization was effected by the election of Dr.
M. Richardson, of Gwinett, as chairman, and J.
M. Johnson, of Henry, as secretary.

The state campaign is progressing slowly, but
the eaty work of our state convention in nomina
ting a candidate for governor and shite house offi
cers on August 13, was no indication that tho
nme coime would be pursued in the various sen
atorlul districts and counties who are to select
candidates for the legislature. In,many of the
districts there have been fierce struggles but uone
we believe left any sores behind them. A few
have not yet nominated hut will in a short time.

the candidates have been selected they are first

are able to make the following report as to how
