ing. The defense admits printing and pub
lishing the article oompliined of, in its issue
of August ft, 1964, and denies that it was false
in any particular, j It sets forth that Jatnos
G. Blaine was married to Harriet fitanwood,
at Pittsburg, on or about March 23, 1H51; that
prior to that time, during the courtship,
Blaine seduced Miss Stan wood; that he
at first refused to mnko reparation
for the wrong done, hut being ufterwards
strongly urged there to, and violently threat
ened with chastisement and punishment for
his said wrong doing, and perchance repent
ing him of the evil, married her as stated; that

plaintiff and his wife as their son. By reasons

it into the North river. All hope of ever being
able to dispose of it departed.
???One day, as I was leaning against a con

the way to cheapen the production of hard
rubber goods by adulterating with this chicle.
Bucccmi seemed certain, and about 25,009
pound* of the gum were collected and brought
to New York, and the business was begun.
