While trying to got'off of tb?? sand bsr it is supposed that the boilers were neglected, as thor raised loo much ttesm in trying to bark off. Aleut 9 p. m. tho boiler exploded, blowing tlio boat ail to pit res. So great was the forco of I lie explosion that it threw tho timbers in the field 100 yards from the water, and scat tered therrew in all directions. This morn ing, in summing up, it was found that three colored men and Captain Kngiish???s little daughter, aged seven years, wore missing. Five colored men and tho white watchman of tho boat were seriously wounded. Threo colored men were aligLtly hurt. Dubose McNeill, a very prom ising young men of Autaugaville, Ala., was foun) fatally wounded, and died to-day at I J ??, m. Captain English was blown thirty ect into the water, but escaped with a'f??*w bruitet and cuts from the Hying timbers. One of the captain's little daughters and his son escaped unhurt. The pilot and Engineer Fierce alio escaped unhurt. The engineer was noton duty when tbo explosion occurred. Tbice doctors from Prattville went to tho scene of the disaster, and did everything for the wounded. They wero left ns comfortable os possible on the bank of tho river, aud will be removed to Montgomery as toon as expe dient. * _____________ A Litter Account. MoSTQOMxar, November 19.???[Special.]*??? The steamboat, Captain 8am, commanded by Captain C. J. English, on her up trip from Selma to Montgomery, on the Alabama river, exploded her boiler near Headnot???s landing, twenty miles below bore, at 10 o'clock last night. There were twenty persons almard, lour of whom were killed outright and missing. The following are the names of tho missing. Kattie English, eleven-year-old daughter ot the captain, and three negro deck hands, named 8am, Jack and Gus. Nearly all tho others are more or lees wounded and scalded,some slightly, others serious. Among the passengers badly hurt is Dubtse McNeal, of Autaugavilla, Alabama. Doth his legs were broken and other wise* injured. No died since, bsforo he could do niovid. At tbo time of the accident tho host was close to the bank in shallow water, with a moderate amount of strain up, and Captain English was at tho wheel in the pilot. The boiler of the boat was almost new and in good condition, with but a moderate amount of steam on. The boat wm an old tow boat, purchased by some Selma merchants and used lately as a trade boat between there anl here. At about the same time last night, the asc end collision in a week occurred on the Mobile and Montgomery raillroad, this time 27 miles from here, at Calhoun 8tation.
