[36 ly Killed a Trout “On the Wing.” The News and Advertiser hasn’t told any remarkable snake stories this season, for this has not been a very good year for snakes in this region, but here is a little fish story that we will lay alongside of any that we have seen: A few days ago Mr. N. J. Cruger, the efficient Tax Receiver of Dougher ty county, was' hunting quail near the creek just north of the city, ahd Avhen he approached the creek his dog ran into the Avater and flushed a trout. The fish made a jump and went flying through the air several feet above the water, and Mr. Cruger fired at it and killed it. The trout weighed about two pounds and a half, and Nick swears that he killed him “on the wing.” This story is not an unreasonable one to a man who is quick on trigger and who has fished much in Flint riv er and Kinchafoonee and Muekalee creeks. The writer has seen trout in these streams clear the water and jump ten or twelve feet. It is no un usual thing for them to jump over a boat Avhen they are taken by surprise and they find themselves cut off from deep water.—Albany News & Adver tiser. Don't Experiment. You cannot afford to waste time in experimenting when your lungs are in danger. Consumption always seems, at first, only a cold. Do not permit any dealer to impose upon you with some cheap imitation of Dr. King's New Discovery for Consump tion, Coughs and Colds, but be sure you get the genuine. Because he can make more profit he may tell you he has something just as good, or just the same. Don’t be deceived, but in sist upon getting Dr. King’s New Dis covery, which is guaranteed to give relief in all Throat, Lung and Chest affections. Trial bottles free at John M. Twelve years ago, Mr. Potter pur chased five calves from a Mr. John son, but as they turned out to have been stolen, Johnson w as prosecuted by the “Anti-Horsel-Thief-Associa- tion.” He was acquitte I and at once sued seven members of the associa tion for damages. The case has been tried five times, and each time except one, Johnson xvas awarded damages ranging from $8,000 to $7,500. This week the verdict was set aside. The total court costs amount to $3,300, and the expenses on both sides aggregate $20,000. Several persons have been bankrupted. The calves were worth about fifty dollars. The case has made itself felt in state politics, and in church affairs, and the end is not yet.—Atlanta Con stitution. Athens, Ga., Oct. 27.—On Sunday night Mrs. Edwin Hayes, an old lady seventy years of age, was fatally burned. * She lives fourteen miles above this city in Jackson county and it seems has not been in strong mind for some time. As she was harmless, however, no watch was kept on her. Sunday night she had gone to her room with a lamp, when the family h ard screams. The lamp had either fallen or exploded, dashing burning oil over her, and swathing her with fire. Clothes were stripped away, but the body was fearfully burned. She lin gered in great suffering until yester day, when she died. “Mamma,” said Bobby, “I have eaten my cake aM up,and Charles hasn’t touched his yet.
